This summer was.. strange? I’m a summer baby, and it’s always been time of many feelings for me, but there were always stints of feeling lifted out of my spring, fall and winter life, and into “summer times”, memories with their own special shine. This summer sure had those, but it was also one where I felt stuck. I was a bug in honey, failing to get out of the trap. I felt like one of Jupiters many moons, orbiting something, but always feeling a tug towards something else. *What * I was orbiting, and what I am being tugged to, was, and is, the question. A creative life I desire and feel like I’m failing at making some days, the want for a relationship, the fact that I’m 31 and not married yet? (But what does that count for anything, it’s about the person, not the timing, right?) All three? Probably. Definitely. Maybe?? But I’m thinking after talking to my loved ones it’s almost always all the above.

My birthday this summer came and went and felt- the same? It was off putting- shouldn’t I feel different? I always do. I love my birthday, and this year I felt so loved but also so.. the same. That felt gross, and wrong. But maybe that’s the point of this year- I am already different than I was last year, than last month. I am already changing, already molting, so the year marker isn’t really the biggest deal. The process is. (How un-sexy is that, haha)

Just today I felt the air changing as I walked back from my car to my apartment, and watched the crows of Ktown fly across the sunset. The air has picked up that hint of fall, just swimming on the edges. What a gift to witness.

I want to remember all the parts of summer that were in summertime, that struck their own tune. I am so thankful for each of them.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. I hope this summer was filled with as many ice creams, long nights, beach days, game nights with your loved ones and long walks as you wanted. And if not- it’s still hot as hell here in LA- you can do it now!

Love you
xx

Looking at photos from Macbeth has me missing the @redinkensemble Midsummer bunch too. @n_ledoux directed an enchanting fever dream of pastel lovers with surprising twists, bewitching fairies conjuring their spells out of rubbish, and the most delightfully earnest mechanicals you ever did see.
