ANNOUNCEMENT

‘Where Will You Go?’, our new single, is out today. This song is a reflection on the band’s journey and a celebration of our time together over the last ten years.

If the song feels like a goodbye it’s because our ten year anniversary gig at The Albert Hall on 20th November is the last in the diary, and we don’t know when or whether we’ll be back.

///

We very much want this gig and this song to ring out like a celebration of the band and of everyone who has supported us along the way. We’ve always loved writing songs from
the heart so we can play them live and really mean it, so playing this song in Manchester will be particularly special.

Doing this homecoming show, and being able to decide for
ourselves how we mark the end of this chapter, is a rare blessing and fills us with a lot of heart and energy. Ultimately, we want the band to remain a source of love.

Ten years is a long time and we’re proud of what we’ve done and grateful to the people who came with us for the journey.

The song will be available on a limited edition two track 12 inch along with our cover of High Pressure Days at the Albert Hall show.

Thank you again to everyone who’s supported us by coming to the gigs and buying or streaming the music ♡

It was very hard to choose these slides because we’ve done so much together over the last ten years. They’re in no particular order, it all very much seems like yesterday anyway.

Hopefully see as many of you as possible @alberthallmcr on 20th November, lots of love x

"My big thing is that we do it all from start to finish by ourselves. Up until recently, we even produced the physical media ourselves; we had a little production line going for cassettes and merch. It takes a hell of a lot of work": @formalsppeedwear talk us through how Punch Card came to be. Read the full piece and listen to the album over on the Cantilever app.

Another Friday, another roundup of new additions to our shelves, and let me tell you the new release cycle is relentless at the moment. 😭

It's time to get excited about More. New. Music.

🎶🎶🎶

The big one for us this week is the most recent release from our shop buddies @lostmaprecords. Be Like A Mountain In A Moonlit Way is the debut album from Edinburgh-based synth-pop duo Both Hands. If you've been coming to the shop for a while, you might recognise the name already, they played to a packed-out shop for our reopening party a couple of years ago. Since then, they've been making a name for themselves on the local scene, with live shows full of homemade props, elaborate costumes, sweet dance moves, and an approach to electronic music which feels both fresh and full of nostalgia.

Hailey Beavis' cut-and-paste surreal lyricism and free approach to melody and song structure sits comfortably in the bed of electro-pop oddness, glacial synths and glitchy drum machines provided by Brian Pokora.

It feels so great to have a new release from an Edinburgh act we've watched grow over the last few years. It's available on LP and CD, come show support! ✨

FFO Life Without Buildings, Björk & Sylvan Esso.

Otherwise, we've got new albums from Beck, Ibukun Sunday, Kristen Hersh and New Orleans duo Twisted Teens! There's a couple of International Anthem reissues to get us ready for the new release from Jeremiah Chiu, plus the posthumous collaborative release from Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto.

I'm also v. excited about some classic Ben Folds Five hitting the shelves. 😮‍💨

We've had a restock of this year's bestsellers, inc. Chat Pile, Aldous Harding and Boards of Canada.

Get yourself down for a snoop! x
