Hey Total Spirit! 👋 My name is Melodie, I’m 35 years old, and I’m still cheering!

I’m applying for the #TotalSpiritSearch because I want to show that it’s never too late to start doing what you love. I didn’t begin cheerleading until I joined UBC Cheer at 28, and it completely changed my life.

As an advocate for women in sports, I’m passionate about challenging the idea that cheerleaders have to fit a certain age, size, or look. I hope to represent those who don’t see themselves reflected in the sport and inspire them to take up space, chase new opportunities, and keep doing what they love no matter where they’re starting from.

I’d be honored to show the Spirit community that there is no single definition of a cheerleader—just people with passion, dedication, and heart. I want to keep motivating people to chase what brings them joy-for as long as they want.
