Monday seemed like a good enough day to introduce a new post series I’m going to attempt to be consistent with called “read this right now” where I try to convince you to read a book I loved that I don’t see talked about very often on bookstagram!!! The first book on the agenda is JANE AND EDWARD by Melodie Edwards! Why this book was excellent: ★ workplace romance ★ contemporary retelling of jane eyre ★ boss x employee I read this a few years ago and it was so cutesy!! I love Jane Eyre and this modern retelling was excellent because it stuck to a lot of the main elements of the original story, while still keeping things fresh. If you’ve never read Jane Eyre, you can still enjoy this as a contemporary romance read! Jane, parentless and poor, lands a job with a law firm that would substantially improve her quality of life. She’s able to quit her job as a waitress, move to the city, and take a deep breath for the first time in her life. The problem? She’s now the legal assistant for Edward Rosen, a partner notorious for being demanding, prickly, and difficult to work with. As they grow closer, old secrets that Edward is keeping come to light, and Jane has to decide if she will fight for what’s grown between them or let it slip away. Revisiting this novel for this post has made me want to do a re-read!!! If you’ve read this, what did you think?? #romance #bookrecs #retelling #contemporaryromance booktok Bookstagram romance recommendations romance novel romance book recs romance recs booktok romance
