✨ Turned 37 a few days ago while hosting a women’s surf and skate retreat in the Philippines! The day started with a surf and ended with karaoke and involved skating and bomb food and hearing a song at the skatepark that my Grlswirl girls and I are in the music video for and the most perfect mango smoothie and crying tears of joy in the ocean and cruising down a big perfect road with locals and picking my jaw up off the floor from a gorgeous sunset. Aside from being sung happy birthday with a dance routine by some local kids and a cake later that evening, everything that day was just part of our retreat day and had nothing to do with me. A friend asked me if I was keeping my birthday a secret because I have a tendency to not tell anyone. But really I’m never hiding my birthday. Two people that shouldn’t have had children birthed me and I’m endlessly grateful for every experience I’ve had from that day and every single day after. I love this crazy wild beautiful little life and all the people and places and sunsets that make it the magic that it is. I say it a lot but I feel so loved and so celebrated every single day of my existence that it couldn’t possibly be topped just because it’s my birthday. Yall hype me up and say sweet shit and feed me and dance with me and endlessly laugh with me and love me unconditionally all 365 days of every year so no part of me needs to be the center of attention on any one of those. I would love to list every single thing that makes being alive the best and biggest adventure but frankly you’d prob all roll your eyes or quit because the list is endless. So I say once again that I’m the luckiest girl in the world for at least 10,000 reasons- the biggest of which is being loved by so many of you while just getting to be me 💕

If you ever have the chance to learn the primordial skill of fire tending, I highly recommend doing so. Revisiting this moment brings tears to my eyes. What a powerful moment. First sitting with the earth, listening to the stories of Fire and of her power and beauty. Connecting in preparation to tend. This video is just a just glance in comparison to the few hours spent nurturing and working patently with friends. Watching everyone spark their fire was so exhilarating and inspiring. So thankful for this time and lesson.
