“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Oh to be thankful,
A feeling so deep,
Indescribable by words,
But yet, it still can be seen.

Seen by the teeth,
That smile cheek to cheek,
bigger than an oak tree.

Oh to be thankful,
For all that I can see,
The birds and the sea,
The friends and family.

Oh to be thankful,
For all that I can’t see.
The plan set aside for me,
But why, why me?

Oh to be thankful,
For God, whom loves me.

Oh to be thankful,
For the all the blessing,
Given to little o me.

Wowza week 12 was weird! (July 25-Aug1)

The week started with some windy nights which lead to a return of the Wassaw wildfire on the North end that had started in July. Early in the week, the fire jumped on to north beach, and many of the trees in our beloved boneyard caught fire. Despite the blaze and some melted screens and sector posts, we are grateful that all of our nests are still accounted for! Even one of our nests in the heart of the fire successfully emerged the following week. We also had a “weird” turtle decide this was a perfect time to crawl up and lay her eggs right next to the fire, which we discovered when it was safe to re-enter this section of the beach.

The north end fire was under control by the end of the week and no longer on the beach. A huge thank you to Bradley and the USFW crew for keeping us safe and informed throughout the week!

In other news, hatching season is in full swing! We had 45 nests emerge and conducted 39 inventories. We also still had a few moms on the beach: 6 new nests, 1 neophyte, 0 adopt-a turtles, and one mama who was tagged on Ossabaw earlier this season.

We #gotpranked by Allison, who surprised this week’s crew with her 4th week on Wassaw this season.

Big thank you to our awesome crew--Allison, Gina, Wesley, and Zoë! We appreciated your help with all of those inventories, while also staying awake and patrolling for mamas.

Thanks for your hard work!
Alden and Jadyn
