POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What a treat to be at @memphislisteninglab tonight as @fanatichenry acted as narrator and tour guide through some of the earliest recordings by the Cramps. Also in attendance were members of @the_klitz who were also in orbit of the Cramps when they made these historic recordings in Memphis. Truly a night of celebrating legends.

1337 madison ave. i really came of age in this building. from the first show i booked to countless others after. i turned 18 at a summer show and @brianvenable DJed the after party. if I tried to tag every band we had here it would take a year.

couple memories I think about once or twice a year: one show the power went out at the end of a my surrender set in the middle of the last song but the crowd just kept singing and austin kept playing drums. it was such a rad experience. another time we stuffed 200 people in that little ass room for @stretcharmstrong803. we had folks standing on the sidewalk with the door open. you could head walk from the front door to the back door.

long live the caravan. long live hardcore. #ourmemphis #diy

This was our return to Memphis after moving away.
Lost Sounds are still a favorite for me. Ahead of what others were doing at the time & great everytime I saw them. So many friends at this one!
Thanks @memphispunkarchive for the reminder/post

@halkonohana just prior to departing Memphis for a new life on the opposite side of the county. Your many contributions to the scene have been vital and inspiring for the past several years. 🙌🏻 Long live @littlebabytendencies @snorklerband and all of your many stage persona. All of your friends and fans are jealous of the PNW. 🫶🏻🖤🫶🏻

AASLH conference panel

Stop 2 on the Sewell the Fool Whirled Too-er...

The Amer Assoc. of State and Local History conference to chair a panel on underground music archives in the American South with John Rash of the Southern Punk Archive at Ole Miss, Scott Satterwhite of University of West Florida and the 309 Punk Project, Kevin Bailey and Heather Fox of the University of Louisville helping to provide a perspective from the '80s and '90s archive they maintain as well as a current oral history project looking at garage rock from the '50s and '60s tying it all together!

An amazing time making new friends, which also included a show on Thurs night with John and Scott and then a group trip on Friday to Alien Records, where I was able to score a 2 vol set chronicling the punk flyers from the Cincinnati and Ohio area- the last one they had what luck!

Shown here is also Scott's book with Aaron Cometbus on the history of the Pensacola punk house and a zine Scott made with his students. fun stuff to keep the legacy going.

Pic of Scott outside taking a pic as well as Scott and John somehow being placed on the same flight into Cincinnati! Crazy times.

All this was Sept 11 and 12, hard to believe so recently and so long ago. Good ppl doing good stuff!

A whole lot of memories have been made here since 1936, and we want to relive the magic through the lens of those who have helped breathe life into our backyard venue 🔊📸 #overtonparkshell

As we embark on celebrating our 90th birthday next year, your photos play a part in helping us piece together the bigger picture!

This is your invitation to contribute to our collection. Dig through the attic, and open those albums. Gather those polaroids, and old posters—and help us pay homage to your patronage 🫵🤘

Submissions will be accepted via email or direct mail.
