in 2016 we were 4 years old 🐥 seems like a lifetime ago when nobody had kids, reese had flowy lucious locks, we hired a cute team mascot, and the clinic was pretty bare bones. proud of every person that has been a part of our team. some have moved onto pro sports, some have moved out of toronto, some have stayed and been our ride-or-dies. fun looking thru the old rolodex ✨

#repost @mendphysioaimee I’m in the middle of fitting some skates! Hockey clients in the summer?! For some players it’s a year round obsession! I’m already getting emails about ski membership renewals so let’s discuss winter sports————————————————————————————Do we need orthotics for skates? for ski boots? maybe yes, but also maybe no! Many weekend warriors will be ok with an OTC insole because the frequency that we do these activities are low- but you’d have to find a narrow version as these boots are hard to fit! If those don’t work, a custom orthotic can be fitted to them to try to increase comfort. Things to keep in mind because sometimes foot discomfort can be a combination of other things as well as.—————————————————————————-Number 1: BOOT FIT. most important part so find yourself a good boot fitter that offer heat molding of the shell or custom punch outs to the shell if there are “hotspots” from protruding bones. If you wear an orthotic already in the boot and are getting new boots, do the fitting WITH your orthotics! An orthotic can set the foot up inside to reduce pressure on certain areas or take up any negative space in the boot and stabilize the foot. This is important because you want the boot to be an extension of your foot for movement efficiency. If your boots fits poorly, then your foot will move INSIDE your boot BEFORE it translates to a movement on the ice or ski hill. Maybe even toe scrunching inside the boot which exhausts the foot muscles—————————————————————————-Number 2: work on TECHNIQUE and required STRENGTH for the intended movement. Eliminate/reduce the inefficiencies as excessive movements can mean excessive pressures that trickle and find its way to somewhere else like dumping to feet (If you guys saw me ski or skate backwards, you’d know I need some lessons ASAP 😂)————————————————————————————— anyone have any leads on good boot fitters?? drop a comment below to share with us all :) 🏒 🥅 🎿 ⛷️ and as always, I’m here for all of your pedorthic services when you need it :) (friendly reminder: Only 3 more months before year end, come soon to avoid disappointment with the end of year rush!)

we miss her so much but also couldn’t be more proud of our [mend] fam and friend, kate, who’s been making waves working as the head physio for the @pwhl_toronto this inaugural season 🔥🏒 what a season they’ve had and now it’s time for the playoffs! let’s go babbbby 🤘 also, yes, that last photo is of kate tying up my skates six years ago when she was a rookie at [mend]. and no, her role hasn’t changed when we go skating 😂😏
