#BandcampFriday was a raging success! These gorgeous deluxe vinyl copies of “A Blessed Unrest” in its fourth pressing are flying off the shelves. I’m gonna spend all weekend boxing up orders.

Every previous limited edition has sold out within months of launch. There’s a significant chance this “Bloody Chamber” colorway will, too. Get yours in time for Halloween season.

Big thanks to my sexy, sexy hand model, @crowfootelectric.

RARE NON SHITPOST ALERT

Among other things, I’m chief agitating officer of an ongoing, loosely murmurating monstrous feminist art rage alliance called HARPYCORPS.

On January 20th, 2017, in cahoots with dear friends, HARPYCORPS launched a potent bottled coffee drink called BLOOD OF THE HARPY to raise community funds for various HARPYCORPS mini grants, creative collabs, and other mutual aid purposes.

In that same spirit, HARPYCORPS proudly presents the “Timoclea 01/20/25’, designed by @glukkake. These plus dozens more of print-on-demand options available at:

Hello, dearies!

Once again, it's time I took a break from social media.

Like so many others, I’m struggling with both my physical and mental health right now.

The flattening, dehumanizing timbre of social media tends to exacerbate these struggles. It’s gotten to the point where my depression & self-loathing deepens every time I check in here.

If you’ve got my number, I can still be reached by phone. Email addy is theparlourtrick@gmail.com.

Also… I ell-oh-vee-eee LOVE giving and receiving pretty things in the mail, so drop me a DM if we’re acquainted and I’ll share my PO BOX address with ya.

Today I’m prepping a bunch of mini prints to send my generous ON THE WING tier Patreon backers. It always does my heart so much good to make small, simple, tangible things as a way to say “thank you, I appreciate you!”

That Patreon platform continues to subsidize some lifesaving health care I’ve not been able to afford consistently on my sporadic freelance earnings. Now that I’m no longer being devoured whole by a 24/7 day job, my plan is to spend a lot more time creating music, writing, and visuals that I’ll share solely on Patreon.

It seems like a far better use of my precious time than stumbling around on corporate social media feeling terrible about myself, yanno?

Interested in joining me? The link’s in my bio.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s ever chipped in. I appreciate each and every one of you so much.

Don’t be strangers! I’ll still be around.

Just not around here.

Much love,

Mer

Art is a detail of a breathtaking watercolor called “Monstrous Femme”, which I commissioned from my brilliant friend @EdenGallanter back in 2017.

@LiminalFlares has been keeping the haunted and haunting bedtime stories comin’ to ya once a week for two solid months.

Have you been keeping up with us? Oh, I hope so! Especially my more spooky n queer friends. If you have, PLEASE don’t be shy about telling us what you think!

This weekly radio-play-style audio engineering is a lot of work, a lot of fun, and hopefully as satisfying to listen to as it is to craft.

@liquidnight was born to make this project happen. Sib, congrats on ten episodes under our belts, and thanks for inspiring me anew with each fresh recitation to dig deep, to unashamedly take up space / take in oxygen, to nurture my creative mind and spirit, and to let loose and KEEP FUCKING GOING because, well, lotsa reasons.

Here’s one: it’s still a miraculous time to be alive and awake and transforming and telling inclusive stories and sharing hyggey firelight magics.

I wanna keep working on Liminal Flares for as long as our intrepid creatrix and narrator, Maika, will have me.

That said, we’re hitting pause for the next few weeks, in no small part so that I can focus on my health, both pre-and-post total hysterectomy.

Thanks for listening! Happy hauntings, friends.

Did you know that Bram Stoker’s Dracula (the 1897 Gothic horror novel, not the swoonworthy 1992 Coppola film) originally began with a chapter that was cut from the book before it was published?

That lost chapter was posthumously published as a short story entitled “Dracula’s Guest.” And today we bring you part 2 of our gender-inclusive revision of that spine-tingling tale.

As always, use your headphones if you’ve got ’em! Mer bedecked this episode in a heady coalescence of hauntingly beautiful fragments of “Mare Desiderii” from A Blessed Unrest by The Parlour Trick.

And trust me, you do not want to miss out on the full unsettling and titillating impact of an unexpected piece of correspondence at the very end of our tale.

Please support Liminal Flares by rating and (where possible) reviewing the show on your preferred podcast streaming service.

New here and wondering what this podcast is all about? Check out our first episode, “A Prelude at the Threshold.”
