New York, this one meant a little more.

After sharing PROOF in London, bringing the film home to New York and experiencing it surrounded by so many of my loved ones was incredibly special. This is my home city, and there’s nothing quite like sharing something you’ve poured so much of yourself into with the people who have watched you build, dream, and grow.

So grateful to Sabrina for being here with us and continuing to believe in this film and where we’re taking it. To Lorian and Kailyn, thank you for all the love, care, and work you’ve poured into PROOF and into making this night happen.

A special thank you to Victor from UNICEF for moderating our conversation and helping us hold such a thoughtful discussion around the film, storytelling, documentation, and the realities PROOF explores.

And to Cody and the entire Lighthouse team, thank you for giving us a home in New York to share this work.
Most of all, thank you to my family, friends, collaborators, and community who filled the room. Looking out and seeing so many people I love while sharing this film is a feeling I won’t forget.

Even more excited to announce @sabrinaelba as the Executive Producer for the upcoming feature film, The Fifth Child.

This proof of concept for Herrana’s forthcoming feature, The Fifth Child written by Che Nembhard, which expands this world to explore what happens when a childhood shaped by exploitation follows someone into adulthood, and what it means to return home, remember, and confront what was left behind.

“Tell Me When You Get Home” is going to SxSW! 🥲

I’ve learned a lot from this film about my own journey with grief. I still find and connect with pieces of my mother everywhere I go: in the intonation and cadence of my aunt’s voice on the phone, in a cafe in Japan where I stumble across her favorite record; in photographs of her mother and aunts where I recognize my style is just theirs; in the supernatural experiences I’ve had since her transition.

For this reason I instantly resonated with @studiotshay ‘s vision and story for Honest Cardamom. The experience of sensing someone there you can no longer see and all of the mixed emotions that come with it can be hard to navigate, especially for young adults (or your own inner child). It is a topic that requires a sensitivity and care that this team has brilliantly navigated, all with a sense of humor and understanding that breathes throughout this film.

So grateful to have been on this journey with such a team that has truly felt like family.
