👀 MÈRE 👀 Catch Mère on Sunday at the variety show sharing FOREIGNATIVE, a work-in-progress piece about being Black American and American indigenous. What does it mean to be both from here and not from here? Can home be “here” AND “there”? This solo explored the tension that coincides with being a descendant of enslaved Africans and displaced Natives, accompanied by live drums, body percussion, singing, poetry, and conversation with live music. You'll witness contemplation, anger, confusion, and honor through jazz, funk, and afro-contemporary mediums . Have you gotten your tickets yet? Space is limited 🔗 in bio

a long awaited show recap…💫 This past July, my piece ‘Fond’ premiered for the 2nd time at @cambridgefoundry as part of @janellegilchristdancetroupe’s curated show ‘Summer Solace’ Restaging this piece on this incredible group of performers turned into the start of something good, @trompeloeildt ! Trompe L’œil Dance Theater (@trompeloeildt) is an umbrella of dance work created by myself and interdisciplinary artists. As a collective, our goal is to merge worlds of dance and theater, creating thoughtful, physically rigorous, and emotional acts of storytelling. photo credits 1 - @achxis.pixel 2 - @achxis.pixel

B(beloved) T(team) S(@soulblind.film) ✶ Cinestill 400D 35mm somehow graduation and my separation anxiety hit harder when we wrapped Soul Blind - right now - more than any commencement ceremony ever could. all this story has ever been about is the ecosystems i grew up with, and the ones i later curated around myself. it’s the river that runs on the seconds i spent staring at my dark ceiling or at a boiling pot for a tad too long. more importantly, it is unarguably the existential crisis of my entire 22 years of being. i don’t know about you, Lora, but i don’t have the answer to all the questions. as a matter of fact, i still don’t have one to any of them. but because of you, i think we are one step closer to getting a grip on what and ”how the forests think“ (the book that inspired me the most for this), and how our bodies and minds live with that. thank you to everyone who ever worked on this, heard out my idea, or even just existed exactly as you are until i became the present version of myself and met you. thank you. listen closely for the quietest emotions. engage and evolve with it all, even through the clumsiest imitations. treat nature and its inhabitants with your purest, most juvenile understanding of everything - until then we can keep ourselves from being Soul Blind. it’s your twin ting who can recall her past lives 🗿👁️🤍
