POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Heya, the final single from our new record is out today. It’s called Right Time and it’s the album opener — it’s also the first tune we recorded live at the Hartle Road house in Columbus, MS, earlier this year. You can kinda feel the nervous energy of that day in the opening notes — just sorta blasts off and starts running. It feels true to our sound, but we’re also trying some new things. Emphasizing dynamics and loud/soft and lots of punctuation marks along the way. We love it. It’s a little unpredictable. Just feeling proud of all this stuff and hope y’all take a minute to listen and hear what we’re trying to do… and the ways we’re sorta stretching.

Full tour dates will come out next week and the record will be available on November 6. Thanks to Meritorio for believing in this thing and to our Hartle Road extended family for bringing it all to life (listen to the great harmonies on this song!) and to the venues and bands that are helping us make this short tour happen. ✌️

Here are a few photos from the sessions.

More Good News is now streaming in all territories!

From Jim: I wrote this song on my acoustic in May 2020. I can’t recall whether there were global events happening that influenced the lyrical themes, it rings a bell somewhere…seem to remember being home a lot around that time. The original inspiration was the song Party Line by The Kinks but when we eventually jammed it as a band it quickly morphed into a wild garage punk song, which suited the mood of it. Unlike a lot of our songs, the lyrics are deliberately blunt and polemical, delivered as a relentless rant intended to replicate the onslaught of media, misinformation and misery we seem to be constantly subjected to in this neat modern world. We recorded it during the sessions for The Hollow Husk of Feeling and while the song fit right in thematically, albeit in a much more pointed way, I felt sonically it didn’t sit well within the flow of the other songs. Fortunately for all of us it’s 2026 and nothing much has improved, so the timing feels right to release it now.

One of the most exciting new release weeks for me in ages (Lauren), as Ida’s I Know About You turns 30, and in typical Numero fashion, there’s a mighty special edition to celebrate. It seems too easy to call Ida an emo band, but I suppose at their core, they are/were. With its lofted harmonies, pick-pocket rhythms, and wailing-in-the- 2AM-distance ambulance guitar solos, Ida’s 1996 sophomore album leaked out of Brooklyn via detachable car stereo CD players and mixtapes from long distance lovers. Just timeless - effortlessly beautiful rock music made in such an understated way. I’m so glad to see this in the shop and on my own shelf :-) Music to send to lovers, ex lovers, future lovers, best friends, old friends. RIYL Low, Idaho, Rainer Maria, Julie Doiron.

PLENTY more including Homework, Cindy x Comber, signed Haiver restock, BODEGA, Horse Jumper of Love, Mr CW, John Prine, Coltrane, Daddy’s Boy (which Dep called the best punk album of the year)
