POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Some of you who are over 35 years old have shared their journey on this account, saying that they've heard of asexuality only recently before they identified with it, which changed their lives for the better. Your shared experiences have inspired this reel. I'm not going to take away your stories, so please feel free to share your journeys in the comment section if you feel comfortable. I'm sending you all a virtual hug and I hope that you know that your journey is valid and I'm happy for you that you finally found the right label for yourselves. I really hope that there will be enough ace-wareness in the future, so others (and yourselves) will have it a bit easier. Let's make it happen! P.S. this song from the audio is from my dear friend @meritory who just released her first music video (you can find the link in her bio!). She sings about a monotone lifestyle cycle, which is hard to escape from when you're struggling mentally. It'd be great if you check it out and support the newcoming artist Ace Up My Sleeve is going to work with! 🏳️‍🌈💜 thank you! #asexuality #asexual #pride #queer #acepride #aceupmysleeve #monotoneflow #merit

The reel and look are inspired by @meritory s song "Monotone Flow"! 💚💖💚💖 I've worked on the music video as an Assistant Director and would be thankful if you check it out and support MERIT, a newcoming artist! The link is in her bio! 🥰 Being ace and "out" comes with getting to hear the same kinds of aphobic comments all of the time, most of which come from being a part of a heteronormative society where sex is omnipresent. When I noticed that I keep hearing the same comments towards my sexuality on a loop, I realized that those comments aren't directly addressed to my persona, but they're a reflection of the person and their "position" in the society we live in. It helped me a lot to find more energy to call out aphobic comments and explain why they're not true. It's not only important on behalf of asexuality but generally to point out the toxic thinking cycle they're trapped in, which indirectly or directly pressures people (and themselves) in to a heteronormative way of life. I think that when we as aces take aphobic comments as an insult, it's because we're aware of the societys "norm" and it feels like one is getting reminded that "we don't fit in". But we have to remember, it's not us, it's society. Since this realization, I don't feel attacked by aphobic comments anymore, which helped boost my confidence, not feel like a "weirdo" or like I'm "defending" myself when people make the mistake of projecting their norms onto me. I hope you all know that you're valid and that those aphobic comments aren't a reflection of yourself, but more a reflection of the person that's dropping them and society we currently live in. This mindset helps a lot to boost the morale when it comes to making ace-wareness and call out heteronormative/objectifying thinking. 💪💜🏳️‍🌈 #asexuality #asexual #fyp #reels #queer #pride #acepride #aceupmysleeve
