This tiny Route 66 dinosaur museum has something I've never seen anywhere else. The bronze dinosaurs are made by community college students!

We’re taking career training to new heights, quite literally.

This week, the New Mexico Corrections Department celebrated the successful completion of its 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭-𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 Wind Energy Integrated Education and Training Program at the Guadalupe County Correctional Facility, in partnership with Mesalands Community College instructors and funding from the New Mexico Higher Education Department.

The eight-week program culminated with a 286-foot climb inside of a working wind turbine on the Mesalands Community College campus in Tucumcari. While up there, the students received hands-on instruction with an operational generator and even entered the turbine’s hub, gaining real-world experience.

Congratulations to the six students who successfully completed the program and earned their Basic Wind Turbine Technician Certification, providing them with an industry-recognized credential that can lead to employment opportunities after they release back into our communities.

👏 A special shoutout to Correctional Officer Pedro Davila, who made the 286-foot climb alongside the students!

Thank you to our amazing NMCD staff and community partners for making this a success!

What an honor to be part of Mesa Lands College's 26 years of iron foundry art tradition! The periodic symbol 26, the year '26, and 26 years of dedication - very cool! mesalandscollege #bronzesculpture #foundryartists @mesalands #bespokebrims @locallbk

Heading to @mesalands in Tucumcari, New Mexico for an iron pour in a couple weeks, AND YOU SHOULD COME TOO! The pour is on March 13th!
If you’ve never been to one before and you’re in the area, come hang out and see what it’s like to melt scrap iron and pour it glowing red-hot into molds. It’s a great team-based art making experience. All are welcome!

This week, 16 students graduated at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility in Los Lunas.

🚛 9 students received their Commercial Driver’s License certification, through the Mountain View Vocational Institute.

🎓 6 students received their High School Equivalencies, which were done in partnership with the New Mexico Higher Education Department. @nmhighered

🎓 1 student received an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Mesalands Community College. @mesalands

Following the graduation ceremony, families of the graduates were invited to attend the reception, which included cakes, ice cream, and refreshments.

🎤 A special thank you to the guest speaker, City of Belen Mayor Robert Noblin Jr., for his inspiring words.

𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡:
“I am now a proud recipient of my High School Equivalency, and I could not be happier with my accomplishments and that of my fellow students. The hard work and dedication that we all have put in will show on our faces as we receive our certificates and diplomas.

I hope that seeing this ceremony will be an inspiration to our family and friends to hold their heads high and dream big. We are proof that goals are attainable.

With that I would like to leave with you all, wisdom from the infamous Jedi Master Yoda: “Do or Do not, for there is no try” and from Gandhi, who says: “Be the change that you would like to see in the world.”

With these changes in our lives, may we all become balanced and useful to society.

The ultimate goal is to return back the life we once knew as improved and healed men.”

#reentrymatters
Successful reentry after incarceration is critical for increased public safety, and the work that has been done by our Reentry Division team since its creation in 2019, is truly remarkable. 👏

If you want a tech focused path without paying 4 year tuition prices, put Mesalands Community College on your list.

Mesalands (New Mexico) is known for hands on career and technical programs with small class sizes, so you actually get attention and real training. It is also a smart option if you want to start with lower tuition, use financial aid, and transfer later.

Programs students look at here include wind energy technology, aviation maintenance, automotive and diesel tech, nursing and health sciences, computer science and IT, and transfer pathways for general studies.

This is a great fit if you want practical skills, a tighter campus community, and a more affordable start.

Comment “KOLLEGIO” and I will help you learn which colleges fit you and give free feedback to improve your application to get in.
