A Video Tribute of My Third Time Celebrating Juneteenth At the Mesob In Montclair.

Last year and the year prior, I had Ethiopian food to celebrate Juneteenth; this year I did that again but it was on the day after Juneteenth. Nevertheless, I am glad I celebrated Juneteenth at one of my favorite healthy and East African restaurants.

Iced Kerkede Hibiscus Tea At An Ethiopian Restaurant

A Dish of Gomen Be’siga

I had an enjoyable time dining at one of my favorite restaurants in Montclair, New Jersey: The Mesob. I loved this dish of savory cubed lamb with fresh collard greens and mild seasoned sauce with potatoes and greens beans and carrots. This was the Gomen Be'siga.

Chantal, for piloting in to deliver her patented crepe kebobs. Joe for the VIP tasting and personal touch. Brukthi for showing us so much love and attention. The whole Bijoux crew for crafting some of the most exquisite pastries in the game.

And huge thanks to Angelica at @montclairhistorycenter for co-leading this tour so expertly & providing a hyper local and fascinating exploration of Montclair’s past and present. Can’t wait to do it again!

My Meal of Gomen Be'sign With Miser and Dinich Wat

I love Ethiopian cuisine; I have been to the Mesob in Montclair, New Jersey numerous times and this time I had the Gomen Be'sign. This dish consisted of cubed lamb with collard greens and injera baked with butter and olive oil along with ginger, garlic, and spices.

@mesobnj is one of my favorite restaurants in Montclair, New Jersey.

For my birthday, all I wanted to do was dance. To sweat. To shake my titties. To feel sexy and whine. I wanted to pop my ass. Jump up and down. Laugh. Feel like me again even though I will never be just me again. Birth changes you and I am honored.

But for this birthday I wanted to act a fool even though my left knee hurt cuz at this ripe ole age, it be hard out here. Yet, that feeling of pain, of time, of this body healing after 10 months, is what reminds me that I am alive. Here. Breathing another day.

For my birthday, all I wanted to do was dance (+ eat good food). Thank you @jeansemelfort for listening to me. And thank you @club1bd for being such a welcoming and dynamically loving space.
