Gente / People: The tour dates for “UNITED STATES OF AMNESIA” are developing. “AMNESIA” is an NPN Creation Fund Project co-commissioned by GALA Hispanic Theatre in DC, and the Ashé Cultural Arts Center in New Orleans. Performing the role of a “Shamanistic Time Traveler,” Torres-Tama conjures the past to asses the racial chaos of the present in a system that seduces you to forget. JTT urges us to remember that the current rage against immigrants is nothing new for a GrinGoLandia, which has always struggled to live up to its mythic ideals as the “beacon of democracy.” Visually dynamic, politically provocative, and comedically absurd, “AMMESIA” was experienced by a packed house of 160 students and community members at Saint Mary’s College of Maryland, and they all rose to their feet for an ovation that lasted at least 5 minutes. Other shows have been presented by the ARTS XCHANGE in Atlanta and Living Arts of Tulsa in Oklahoma. Hoping to get out West to California and the Midwest area this fall. More info at www.torrestama.com. Ashé y Adelante!

I am so happy to have had a hand, along with the Fitzmaurice Institute’s Artistic Director, Micha Espinosa, in coordinating this partnership between the Fitzmaurice Voice Institute and the University of Regina.💫

From FVI: “FVI has new opportunities for collaboration with the University of Regina in Saskatchewan Canada, thanks to FV Teacher Shannon Holmes coordination efforts. This Research Center partnership opens space for interdisciplinary exchange across performance, voice, movement, research, and pedagogy. We look forward to building meaningful connections that support creative inquiry, international dialogue, and innovative work across fields.

🥂To new possibilities and opportunities!

A glimpse into the magic, rigor, joy, and community of this year’s NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR DIRECTING & ENSEMBLE CREATION, co-organized by @pangeaworldtheater and @art2action. For 15 years, the #DirectingInstitute has brought together artists from across the globe to learn, create, challenge, and inspire one another. In a time that calls far imagination, courage, and collective action, these artists remind us why we do this work. #NIDEC2026 #art2action #pangeawt

Happy Birthday querida Laurie! May this new dance around the sun be a juicy one! You are a treasure and the art you make changes lives both for collaborators and for your audiences. You know how to create an ecosystem that fosters freedom, empathy, artistic audacity, joy, respect. With the river of every ancestral storyline carrying the work forward. Your medicine is not just the beauty of what you make but HOW it is made. With community always at the center. Thank you for this feast that is SOMEWHERE at DCPA. What a gift it is to be out there nightly with the family you created. And there is no joy bigger than the tears and roars of laughter coming back at us from every audience who takes this ride, audiences who stay to tell us in the lobby, “I had no idea how much I needed this play.” Cheers, love and gratitude to you for every life your beautiful heart and ferocious art has, is, and will touch. Love you.💜🥳💜

The Laboratorio would not have been possible without the wonderful teachers who gave their time and expertise to continue advancing Latinx actor training! Thank you to everyone who generously worked on this event. It is the power of community that keeps our movement going!

On our last day of training, the Laboratorio continued with courses in movement, speech, voice, and acting texts. In addition, we were joined by Marissa Chibás, who taught a featured acting class titled “Mythic Imagination and the Actor.” After an incredible two days, we drew our time together to a close. It was a weekend of impactful discoveries, celebrating community, and creating new futures. Thanks to all of those who joined us!

Last month the Actor Training Laboratorio gathered 31 actors from around the U.S. and Puerto Rico for an intensive training weekend. On Day 1, we built community by sharing our hopes for the weekend, gathering for a lecture on the history of Latinx theatre by Dr. Chantal Rodriguez, honoring Josefina Lopez with a trailblazer recognition for her accomplishments in the field, and embracing our full selves while getting to know one another.
