About the business 🖤

Hi friends! I’m Julia, the lead makeup artist for Heavy Glamour Makeup Artistry, based out of Sacramento, CA. I have been doing makeup for over a decade and specialize in alternative makeup styles, with all my adoration. 💞 I attended a small film makeup school in 2017 and shortly after began my independent makeup business journey, Heavy Glamour. Along with an extensive background in retail cosmetics working with several different brands, I have wide-ranging experience with wedding, fashion, film, editorial, and event makeup. I grew up an outcast, being made fun of for my dark clothing and heavy music. My goal is to be the open-armed makeup artist for those that think outside the box, and whose style is outside the norm. I love color, I love darkness, and I love being creative and being challenged to create crazy looks.

Helping people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin and enhancing natural features is important to me. Though I am also fascinated by the creative power of makeup and the spectrum of how much you can transform! I appreciate all makeup and am happy to assist in bringing my clients’ visions to life. My chair is an open and safe space.

Aside from the beauty industry, I have a huge passion for music and animals. I am vegan and only purchase vegan and cruelty-free products (I do however still have some makeup in my kit from before I made this life alteration that I don’t want to go to waste). I am also a musician, and the vocalist of the progressive death metal band Bleak Machine.

Thank you for visiting my portfolio, I look forward to working together!

Julia 💗

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes!! It’s been a pretty fun weekend at Aftershock and certainly a good way to celebrate a birthday. Got to see so many friends! Plus seeing some friends performing on the big stages (minus one, but we’re not gonna talk about that yet…) was a real treat!! Thank you again everyone that came up and wished me a happy birthday and hung out with me at any point this weekend. Now we’re off to have my baby girl’s birthday party 🥳 😊

PS - tried to tag as many as I could… sorry if I missed you

Rest In Peace Brent Hinds. A huge inspiration to this band and many others. Dedicating this performance to him is something I will cherish deeply. 💙 @mastodonrocks

Iron Tusk by Mastodon… My best @creamale impression! Need to loosen up my singles a bit more. Stoked to break this cover out at the next @bleak_machine show opening up for @belakorband at @goldfield1849! I promise I’ll get it cleaned up by then lol. 🤘

💥 We are thrilled to announce our next show! 💥
We will once again be back at @goldfield1849 on Saturday, September 20th opening for the immensely incredible @belakorband. Hailing all the way from Australia, this is their first time in the U.S. and we are absolutely honored to share the stage with them and @solemnvision. If you’re a fan of Opeth, check them both out and BE THERE!
