A volte le cose iniziano per caso, altre perché qualcuno ti dice la cosa giusta al momento giusto.

Avevo due vecchie auto da sistemare e servivano delle saldature. Un ragazzo mi ha detto: ‘Dovresti imparare a farlo da solo, così risparmi soldi’.
Non ci avevo mai pensato, ma quelle parole mi sono rimaste in testa.
Mi sono iscritto al college, ho ottenuto un apprendistato e da lì è iniziato tutto.
Oggi, dopo più di 20 anni, creo mobili in Italia, unendo design e artigianato.
Tutto è nato da un bisogno, ma è diventato una passione che ancora oggi mi spinge a migliorare, a sperimentare, a dare forma alle idee.

Ogni progetto nasce così: un’idea, uno schizzo, qualche appunto su carta. Sono i primi segni di qualcosa che ancora non esiste, ma che già riesco a immaginare.💡

La parte che amo di più è proprio questa: il caos creativo, fatto di misure, errori, correzioni, e quell’istante in cui tutto comincia a prendere senso. Non è solo una questione di estetica o funzionalità, ma di trovare un equilibrio.
Quando guardo un pezzo finito, rivedo ogni passaggio: il tempo dedicato, le scelte, i dettagli studiati.
Non è solo un oggetto, è un pezzo di me, della mia visione.
Dietro ogni forma, ogni materiale, c’è una storia che prende vita. Ed è questa la bellezza di ciò che faccio: trasformare idee in qualcosa di reale, che possa accompagnare le persone nel loro quotidiano.

Todays the day I celebrate the life of my best friend Casper!
More than a doggo he was my spirit animal.
Im regularly asked by repeat customers if I’ll be bringing my ‘lovely dog’ with me and I have to tell them that sadly he’s not with us here anymore.
They then say sorry but they don’t have to be. It’s nice to be reminded of him and nice that people remember how special he was. And nice to share this post too.
Salute Casper! 👻🍷 10 of the best years of my life. Was lucky to share them with you.

What the hell are we doing here other than stuffing our faces with tortellini and out-of-date pistachio panettone?

We bet we can live off Mat’s talent. He always wanted to make his own stuff, and he is planning his range of metal furniture and gates. We are currently setting up his workshop, he brought his gear from London a few months ago, and now he is shuffling things around. These things are actually half a tonne machines, so we got the next door neighbour involved. The neighbour, a former banker in his 70s, brought the digger he bought for fun since he retired, and a few ropes and half an hour later, everything was in place😌
The workshop, a 10 minutes commute from home (or twenty if you carry a toddler in your backpack), is a big space, it overlooks the hills, and comes with a little old guy who keeps telling my fluent-to-be husband about every single day he spent in the workshop before Mat took over. It’s lots of days. Mat smiles and nods, nods and smiles.🙂

First weeks in Italy!

We’ve been living for a few weeks here, in a weird time warp, days have gone so fast but we have slowed down. We have kinda settled, unpacked and found space for our stuff in the Aldhouse quarters, which are the two bedrooms + bathroom upstairs. We are temporarily sharing the rest of the house with my my sister and her husband, my folks, a dog and a cat, and of course, food, worries, laughter and laundry.
The little one is LOVING IT. After a few days of cautious exploring she has gained a confidence that’s way bigger than her legs, and she runs around like a little 🌪chasing cat and nonni, rolling down the hills, squashing bugs and splitting acorns🤜🐿
On week 1 we thought we got the wrong address. Forget the Mediterranean weather in the Mediterranean country, Italy welcomed us with cold days and freezing nights, and while we were used to wearing Tshirts in our London flat, we found ourselves in a club sandwich of thermal layers🥶 In the meantime, my father aka General Zumbosky declared war to the Russian oil
allowing us only 3 hours of heating per day, enough probably to heat up the dog house.
But then Spring has sprung! The garden looks incredible, the weather has been super sunny and we started going out and play nerf in empty parking lots. The village looks pretty empty in the afternoon. The village looks pretty empty. Where the fuck is everyone🤔

#vendemmia2020 🍇🍇 Ogni anno tra l’ultima settimana di settembre e la prima di ottobre alla Pupazza si vendemmia. Il nostro è (ancora) un piccolo vigneto prevalentemente di Sangiovese ma ogni vendemmia diventa sempre di più un occasione per riunire famiglia e amici che anche stavolta sono corsi in nostro aiuto per terminare in tempo, prima che la pioggia rendesse difficoltosa la giornata. L’ultimo pranzo all’aperto della stagione ha poi segnato l’inizio ufficiale dell’autunno ma con il pensiero siamo già proiettati al prossimo appuntamento: la raccolta delle olive a novembre! 🍂🍃

#Harvest2020 🍇🍇 Every year, the grape harvest happens across the last week of September and the first week of October. Ours is still a small vineyard made of mainly Sangiovese grapes, but every harvest is becoming year after year an occasion to gather family and friends who once again came to the rescue this year and made sure we’d finish on time, before the rain ruined the plan for the day.
The last alfresco lunch for the season marked the beginning of Autumn and we are already looking forward to the next collective appointment: the olive harvest in November! 🍂🍃
