“Style is the death of creativity.” Adam Rudolph recalls Don Cherry’s words while reflecting on the possibilities beyond genre. That openness is part of what brought him to Omni Sound, a shared belief in giving music room to discover its own form. Invisible Threads out now. Link in bio.

A pause becomes an invitation. Adam Rudolph on the living exchange behind Invisible Threads: a phrase offered, a suggestion to slow down, a space left for another musician to answer. The composition stays open, taking shape through listening, call and response, and the possibilities each player brings into the room. “That’s the back and forth. That’s the moment.” Invisible Threads out now. Link in bio.

No life exists in isolation. On Invisible Threads, eight musicians bring distinct voices into one field of attention. A world of percussion and toys. Sufi ney. Violin, flute, and voice. Bass, guitar, and live electronics. Sketches open into pauses, calls, and responses, each musician remaining fully themselves as the music takes shape through listening. “You learn from everybody you play with.” For Adam Rudolph, music is an exchange without a final destination. Don Cherry, Yusef Lateef, Jon Hassell, and Pharoah Sanders helped shape his path. Years later, Carlos Niño and André 3000 entered that continuing conversation, bringing their own ideas, questions, and ways of listening. Invisible Threads arrives September 18 on Omni Sound, on LP, CD, and digital. Preview and pre-order at the link in bio.

Counting among his previous collaborations Yusef Lateef, Don Cherry, Pharaoh Sanders, Jon Hassel, this time out with an LP featuring longtime musical associates Kaoru Watanabe (flutes, taiko, vocal, electric koto and processing) and Alexis Marcelo (acoustic piano, electric keyboards, melodica, percussion) to venture yet again in an uncharted sonic territory, blending the boundaries between ancient and modern.
