MAS Context is thrilled to announce the publication of “Isolated Building Studies,” a book featuring David Schalliol’s (@metroblossom) series coinciding with his group exhibition “Absence” at Liverpool’s Stable Gallery, presented by Open Eye Gallery (@openeyegallery). The exhibition, curated by Laura Harris and Maike Pötschulat, opened on June 5 and closes this Saturday, July 11.

“Isolated Building Studies” is the visual confluence of David Schalliol’s interests in urban dynamism, socioeconomic inequality, and photography. By using uniform composition in photographs of Chicago buildings with no neighboring structures, he hopes to draw attention to new ways of seeing the common impact of divergent investment processes on urban communities.

The book includes over fifty photographs taken by David Schalliol over the last twenty years. It also includes texts by David Schalliol and Karen Irvine (@k_l_irvine), Chief Curator and Deputy Director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago (@mocpchi).

“Isolated Building Studies” has been designed by Renata Graw (@renatagraw) and Lucas Reif (@lucasreif) of Chicago-based Normal (@thenormalstudio) and Iker Gil (@ikergil) of MAS Context. It has been printed at Printer Trento (@printertrento) in Italy.
