I didn’t go to St. Pete & Tampa just to see art. I went to practice noticing it everywhere.

Swipe for what I noticed:

At @artfairtampa I noticed texture. Scale. Brushstrokes up close. Contemporary art in real life has a presence a phone screen completely flattens.

At the @mfastpete I noticed slowness. How long one painting can hold you if you don’t rush to the next room. MFA St. Pete on Beach Drive is made for that kind of slow looking.

Walking around downtown St. Petersburg, Florida - I noticed everything else. The waterfront light, shadows on old buildings, colors repeating in murals, nature, and architecture. No ticket, no gallery needed.

That’s the real artist life in Tampa Bay for me: not just making art, but training your eye when you’re not in the studio.

These little details always find their way into my next piece, even if I don’t know how yet.

📌 Save this for your next St. Pete / Tampa art day and try the noticing game yourself

Tell me in the comments: what’s ONE small detail you always notice that other people miss?

So wonderful to have the world famous bodybuilder Anja Langer @officialanjalanger from Germany visit my studio this week! A rare treat to meet one of the female bodybuilders from the 1990s that was an inspiration for a number of my paintings recently exhibited @mfastpete Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg, thanks to @katherinepill Also - Slide for photos of the exhibition.

The ultimate World Series wager! ⚾💙💛🎨

My friend Klaudio Rodriguez, director of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, FL, and I are putting our Monets on the line!

The deal? When the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays, Klaudio will be packing up his Monet and sending it north to the Milwaukee Art Museum! 🖼️

Klaudio seems to think the Rays have a chance. Bless his heart. 😂

Sorry, Tampa Bay, but the only thing heading south is your championship dream. The Monet is coming to Milwaukee!

**Go Brew Crew!** ⚾️🍺✊💙
