Culture Skate Shop is a local nonprofit in Carpinteria, founded by Peter Bonning, and everything that gets sold here goes straight back into the kids. Into art supplies, wood, ink, screen printing, and the programs where they build boards, make art, and end each semester with their own art show.

This project was their first challenge of the semester. Split into six groups, randomly chosen, each inspired by a different skateboard artist. Their job was to work together and create their own deck graphic reflecting that artist’s style.

The growth from last semester to now is unreal. You can see it in the way they share ideas, problem solve, and take pride in what they make. All their smiles are the result of kids finding a place to be creative, to be themselves, and to build something bigger than they even realize, yet.

The truth is, the kids are what keep this place alive. Their art, their energy, their belief in this space is what makes it possible for our doors to stay open in a small town like this.

Not every skate shop is built like this. We’re here for the community, for the process, and for every kid who walks through the door looking for a place to belong.

Huge love to Peter @carp_skatepark for pouring his life into this, and to every one of these young artists for reminding us why we do it.
