MALEA would like to congratulate our brother, Plainfield Police Detective Ilyas Muhammad on his 30 years of service and a well earned retirement! 👏🏼🎊

Det. Muhammed served his last assignment as a Task Force Officer with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm & Explosives (ATF). He is the author of "Black Cop", a book with great insight to the Law Enforcement career.

May Allah bless him and his family, ameen!

I’m reading another author because the first book left me feeling blah. I finished Orange Is The New Black. Perhaps it was the editing, but it was just sterile and gray to me. I worked in a women’s prison for seven years and I guess I was expecting more heart. This book didn’t deliver.
So my next read is on the custody side,
Black Cop by M.G. Robinson. I found it interesting and insightful.
He’ll be reading from and signing his book on Saturday, August 8th. I have some questions… Come thru!

Book signing with Angela P. Dodson, author of We’ve Been Here Before: How Rebellion and Activism Have Always Sustained America - coauthored with the late Michael I. Days.
The conversation was enlightening and uplifting. Stay tuned, we’re gonna do it again in October at The Book Fair where we’ll add to the discussion.
We had such a good time on Saturday with Angela and others who came through like @mg_robinson and @dr.angelinedean who are also authors. Thank you to everyone who came out to support, especially the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
