We love the magic that occurs when designers, architects, artists, contractors, and chefs are in a room together. What happens when we cultivate spaces that allow us to open our minds to learning about each other’s practices and processes? That exploration and collaboration inspires all that we do and is Unfold’s mechanism to build confidence to answer the question, “What if?” together. What if we used everything we already have? What if the impact was regenerative, rather than extractive? What if we found a better way? What if… 🌹 // photos from an Unfold Guild Exchange: a visit to the home and garden of UNFOLD Encinitas guild artist @nbijanpourfard with Unfold Projects’ summer 2026 artist-in-residence Jessy Slim @_slimfactory 📸: @stacykeck

🌹: What is better than restoring a space with a Guild of regional artists? Having those artists welcome that space’s artist-in-residence into their homes/studios to share more about our region’s ecology and craft. Thank you, @nbijanpourfard (and your 🐓 and fruit offerings!!!) for kicking off our Unfold Guild Exchange at your inspiring home and garden for our first UNFOLD Encinitas artist-in-residence @_slimfactory and other Guild members and artists and designers from our local community. Our Winter 2027 Residency application is open now in the link in our bio. Which Guild artist would you like to learn from? Photo captures by the incredible @stacykeck

Indulge in rest and rediscovery during your stay at UNFOLD Encinitas’ Artist Flat. Crafted by regional artists, using reclaimed materials from the house renovation, with hand-picked, intentional objects and furniture, the design exudes an intention of pause and play. Put on a record. Pick a Meyer lemon from the tree outside. Check out the rare book collection. Take a dip in the cedar hot tub. Rinse in the outdoor shower. Take a nap.

Por Laura Huerta y Gael Guerrero - Bodies of memory This intervention invites us to look at the earth from the present. The vertical mortar structures, incorporating clay, shells, stones, wood, natural fragments from the region, remnants of the city, stand as symbols of permanence and transformation. Their upright form evokes both architectural and ritual gestures, linking construction with contemplation and suggesting the act of grounding memory in matter. By Laura Huerta y Gael Guerrero
