ABOUT Dede Arisekola This collection exists within an Afrofuturistic universe and explores how relationships evolve through moments of attraction, conflict, compromise, intimacy, and renewal. Through colour and sculptural form, the garments express emotional movement and transition. An ongoing struggle between natural impulse and freedom, and the learned constraints of structure and the tailored form, capturing the tension between tradition and modernity that often shapes the migrant identity and immerses itself in interpersonal relationships. The use of dead stock fabrics and up-cycled garments speaks not only to sustainability, but also to renewal, giving new life to both materials and memories. Each look stands as a fragment of time, documenting emotional growth, cultural expectations, and personal transformation. Rooted in Pan-African identity yet speculative in vision, the collection examines love as both a historical experience and a futuristic possibility.
