"Keep you waiting huh?"

In questi ultimi giorni ci sono state tante cose belle su Metal Gear Solid.

Two summers ago, I made my way to the second-ever #MetalGear Con, appropriately named @MGSCON!2: Cons of Liberty, in reference to #MetalGearSolid2. And yes, I had to rock my Sons of Liberty tee from @Uniqlo.

This was one of the biggest highlights of my 2024 convention year. Despite being a small fan-run con, MGSCON brought together an incredible lineup of cast and crew from across the MGS Legacy, including Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

“Rules of Nature” and “Red Sun” singer @JasonCharlesMiller from Metal Gear Rising, “Snake Eater” singer Cynthia Harrell from MGS3, @DougStoneVO, the voice of Psycho Mantis in MGS1, Sniper Wolf’s VA @TasiaValenza, @PhilLamarr, the voice of Vamp in MGS2 and MGS4, the legendary voice of Solid Snake and Big Boss @The_David_Hayter, @Loritalk4, the voice of The Boss, @MauraGale, the voice of Fortune, @VanessaMarshall1138, the voice of Olga Gurlukovich in MGS2 and Strangelove in Peace Walker, @PaulEiding, the voice of Colonel Campbell, and Christopher Randolph, the voice of Otacon.

Getting to meet them all definitely made my summer, especially David Hayter, who signed my @Xbox copy of Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance, along with the rest of the MGS2 cast.

Sadly, @DebiMaeWest, the voice of Meryl Silverburgh, couldn’t make it that year.

Beyond the guests, I saw some amazing, groundbreaking cosplays, ran into familiar faces from previous cons, discovered new artists in Artist Alley, attended a Twitch stream, watched live performers, took a voiceover lesson, and even played Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance on an original fat PlayStation 2 in the game room until closing time.

Looking back, #MGSCON2 really stuck with me. I didn’t just get to meet the voices behind one of my favorite gaming franchises, I also met some genuinely cool people and experienced one of the friendliest fandoms I’ve encountered at any con.

Unfortunately, there won’t be another MGSCON anytime soon, so I won’t be able to attend another one for the foreseeable future.
