Stone can be so much more than a surface.

Beyond kitchen countertops and bath vanities, stone can take on unexpected roles throughout an interior — replacing traditional baseboards and casing, framing mirrors, becoming custom furniture, or serving as a sculptural element in its own right.

Thick, mitered edges create the appearance of substantial stone slabs, while curves soften the material’s inherent strength. Translucent stones offer another possibility, transforming into artful, illuminated surfaces that reveal the material in an entirely different way.

But great stonework is about more than the finished installation. It begins long before the stone reaches the space — with thoughtful slab selection, an understanding of the stone’s natural character, and precision in measuring, cutting, and finishing. Every detail contributes to the final result.

The beauty is in the stone. The artistry is in how it’s imagined and crafted.

PRIMARY BATHROOM RENOVATION 🤍

From the beginning, my goal wasn’t to create a trendy bathroom. I wanted it to feel warm, timeless, collected, and true to the traditional character of the house.

The bathroom had very good bones: lots of space, beautiful natural light, tall ceilings, large windows, a lot of carpet, and some awkward wall openings.

We removed the old jacuzzi that took up much of the room, reworked the layout, added custom wall molding, and installed hardwood floors throughout the main area.

Originally, the bathroom was connected to a closet, toilet room, and storage space through multiple doors and openings. We simplified the toilet room, raised all of the door openings to the same height, redesigned the closet into one large dressing room with a center island, and turned the old storage room into an ensuite sauna.

To preserve some of the original character of the space and save on costs we kept the existing cabinetry and updated it with new marble countertops, hardware, faucets, mirrors, and lighting.

Some of my favorite additions are the freestanding tub under the window, the marble shelves for displaying books and little collected objects, the long DIY curtains, the medicine cabinets with glass shelves for all my products, the custom walk-in closet, the antique and vintage pieces layered throughout the space, and of course the sauna, which we’ve used almost every day since it was installed.

This renovation took a whole year from start to finish, and I’m so glad we took our time. It has become one of my favorite spaces in our home, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life. 🫧
