“Traditions of the past mesh with potential for future change. This notion pervades Gaafar’s novel, and the two-for-one concept is nowhere more aptly contained than in the title A Mouth Full of Salt. This phrase embodies an ancient Sudanese proverb describing the taste in one’s mouth after a great loss. However, Gaafar also uses salt to alternative effect.”
—Michelle Hardy, review of Reem Gaafar’s A Mouthful of Salt (Invisible Publishing, 2025).

Such a fun day here @agriturismo.vigliano . We had a cooking class making gnocchi with nettles. But first we learned of the different bruschetta and cheeses. And of course we got to eat everything! Thank you to Valentina Nunziata who is part of the family who own the Agriturismo and chef Stefano. Amazing! #cooking #italiancooking #cheese #nettles #gnocchi #lemon #artretreat @mhardy_editor @tofinogalleryofcontemporaryart
