@lymanord.eventing Lyman Ordway, is a senior studying Kenisology and is applying to graduate school for a doctorate in physical therapy. Lyman rides Winnett Ordway’s Exces De Folie, a 12 year old Selle Français gelding. They have been competing together for three years and have run through the intermediate level together.

@mhem.eq Morgan Ellis Makovsky is senior double majoring in nursing, human development and family science from Dorchester, New Hampshire. Morgan is riding her own 12-year-old mare, Durango’s Irish Rose. She was named the 2025 USEF Connemara Halfbred of the Year in Eventing. Morgan has been working with Prim since she was just a yearling, and the pair recently completed their first Preliminary together

@rlabonte.eventing Raina is a Freshman studying Equine Science and Management. Raina rides her own 11 year old Irish Sport Horse, Quite Quality. Raina and Quite Quality have competed through the FEI 1* level

Year of the Horse or Horse of the Year?

I am so incredibly grateful for the year that I have had with Soren. Never in my life would I imagine that my pony born in my backyard could be the top in the country. When I was notified of the award I was completely blindsided. Soren, “Castle on the Hill” is the USEF and @americanconnemara Horse of the Year, Clifden Trophy Award winner and the top Connemara hunter in the United States.

I can only thank the people who have always supported me. Thank you to Deb Norman for allowing us to use your stallion, and Rattle and Snap Laddie Boy for being the best pony dad ever. Thank you to Campfire S’mores for being the best pony mom and for giving me my best friend in the world.

Thank you to the American Connemara Society for supporting me and allowing me the honor to be chosen for this award.

Thank you to my sister Alexandra and my Dad for dropping everything to get me to Louisville to receive my trophy and awards.

Thank you to my sister @clarajbeck and my mom for always supporting me and pushing us to be the best team we can be and supporting us through our training to get to this point.

Thank you @usequestrian president Tom O’Mara for the opportunity to win an award like this and for the opportunity to meet you.

Thank you @sturnblacer for coaching Soren from being a cow-pony to a national champion in such a short time and to my Houdini Farms family for always having my back!

But most of all, thank you Soren. I could never do this without you, you are my best friend forever and I owe you everything. To think the first time I would walk a red carpet would be because of my pony is something I never would have imagined. I am so proud of us and this is only the beginning. To think we did this in a year is crazy and I am so grateful and thankful for our partnership.

Still smiling over how this weekend went, we are a 2* pair!!
Finn laid down a pretty flawless dressage test scoring a 28, definitely one of the best tests we have ever done. So so proud to see all of our hard work paying off in the ring. Per usual Finn tried his hardest in show jump even if his mom gets him a little close to some jumps 😅
I have no words for cross country. We ate up the course. Jump after jump, combination after combination no questions asked. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to call this horse mine and to experience all of these milestones for the first time together. A year and a half ago when I first sat on him I never imagined this possible.
A massive thank you goes out to my pit crew behind the scenes😅 I wouldn’t have gotten through this weekend without everybody’s help and support, it means the world to me.
What a way to end the season!! ❤️
