Last night was so emotional and important for me, for many reasons. I started going to shows almost 5 years ago now, and last night was just a full circle moment. My very first show was Tiny Towns and Second Life at the rev room with my dad, and not long after was a mix of those guys with MHTW and Go for Gold; when I think of the first local bands I ever listened to, these 4 bands are the first to come to mind. They have played such a pivotal role in my life, which sounds silly but it's true. All these guys are so amazing and talented and have expanded my music horizons forever, and to get to see Second Life play their last ever show at Vinos added to the importance of this night even more. You guys know how much I love Tiny Towns, but this lineup was just one for the books because it felt like my very first show(s) all over again, but even better. I'll love these guys forever, they'll always hold a special place in my heart <3

It’s time for Solid Merch’s album of the week! This week we have @mhtwband new album Ursal Kingdom

It’s heavy, it’s melodic, it’s fast - what’s not to love? This one turned out awesome with the colorful packaging, and this purple vinyl with hot pink splatter

Local Spotlight: Any Given Room

How did you come up with the name Any Given Room?

I think we got our name in like the most traditional way possible.
we formed like 7 years ago now (dear god) and quickly proceeded to book a show with no name.
at the time we rehearsed in our original guitarists house, but he was doing a renovation or something so the bedroom we normally used was unavailable. He was like “hey yall mind using the living room today?” and stephen was like “we dont care, Any Given Room will work” and i was like “thats the name” and nobody agreed cause its a dumb name but then we used it for the show and it stuck.

Who are your biggest influences?

I think we'd all have a different list when it comes to influences.
Pop punk stuff like Paramore, Blink-182, and My Chemical Romance had huge impacts on all of us when we were younger.
that being said right now Bilmuri, Bad Rabbits, and Jpegmafia are artists we consistently use as points of reference

Who are some of your favorite locals to work with?

Locally we’re huge fans of Pett, Tiny Towns, Jupiters Flytrap, and My Hands to War. (among too many others to list) Also not sure if they still exist or all moved away but Couch Jackets and Rogue Planet went crazy and were huge in making Any Given Room practice and become a better band.
