Miami Modern Funk & Boogie Songstress
My Debut Album ‘In The Moonlight’ is Out Now :)

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“In this universe we are given two gifts: the ability to love, and the ability to ask questions. Which are, at the same time, the fires that warm us and the fires that scorch us.
Mary Oliver, Upstream”

After Nolan’s case got dropped,
my mother, teacher, human heart
shattered
It was the final blow to my spirit
I cannot exist in this space without
perpetual grief
So I left this space for a while
Because to be a mother, teacher, human
I had to make something
with the hands that hold hope

I started painting after many years
Watercolor droplets adding color to my tears
Pastels stains a band aid on hands that ached
Growing the flowers for my living altar
Hearing, reciting, recording
Feeding the birds, our children, the dog
Chipping away at all that’s eating at me
Serenading myself
shower after shower
Collaging photographs I’d like to capture one day
Collecting and reseeding the seeds
I started harvesting crops
And collecting my spirit
Day by day
Stroke by stroke
I found hope in the next again
Because we must continuously sacrifice to be brave
nourish our spirit to let it be the brilliance of the dark
Make a platter with our art

in a world so willing to rip families
apart
And that ache I know so well
The familiar dwell

I will put myself together again
I will paint myself anew
Not a matter of if
But when
And the beauty will give meaning to it all

Still thinking about this one. ❤️

MIA + FunkFreaks, gave the Farm House a night we won’t forget. Thank you to everyone who showed up, sang along, danced, and made it feel like something bigger than just a show.

Sold out, packed in, and one for the memory books.

If you were there, you know. If you weren’t… keep your eyes on what’s next. 🌱

I'm almost ashamed how late I am on this album, I've seen many friends and mutuals post about it, but it was actually @on.rcrd post that sealed the deal for me and I ordered the LP + 7" bundle direct from @starcreaturevibes !
Anyways, this album feels like it's straight from 1984 (but released early this year!), straight boogie funk goodness from @miahoneydeux and with @gil.masuda on production, they really did their thing here, check out the album "In the moonlight" and if you're vinyl collector I totally recommend the bundle with "Love me right" 7" as well, super reasonably priced.

This past week, I’ve had the privilege of having so many great people under several of my favorite roofs in the city.

It was wonderful to see so many folks from all walks of life show out for @justinstrauss1 and @rrremio’s time in Dallas.

Plus, it’s been a pleasure hosting my fellow artist homies at the Sobe’BNB. Lots of art & memories were made. 🥰
