It was an honor to be part of the Rizman Ruzaini opening at Dubai Fashion Week! Their Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Mustika, beautifully captures themes of cultural identity, paying homage to Malaysian cinema and tradition.

It’s inspiring to see how Rizman Ruzaini has seamlessly internationalized the
Malaysian heritage elements into couture fashion on an international stage. I was particularly impressed by the bead work and lace that I find so familiar close to home but it blends well as a modern couture..such geniuses!

As Rizman Ruzaini prepares to open their boutique in Dubai, I look forward to witnessing more of their spectacular craftsmanship and innovation in the world of fashion.

And I remain proud to witness Malaysian traditions making their mark on the global fashion stage.

Thank you to my guests for sharing this evening with me.

If you wish to schedule a private viewing of the collection feel free to get in touch.

HOW NOT TO LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

💁‍♀ Mistake number one: Not practicing reading until it becomes automatic.

💁‍♀ Mistake number two: Neglecting to work on pronunciation.

💁‍♀ Mistake number three: Not using additional resources beyond the main textbook.

💁‍♀ Mistake number four: Memorizing words by rote instead of using associative techniques.

💁‍♀ Mistake number five: Memorizing texts by rote.

💁‍♀ Mistake number six: Lacking interest in the history and culture of the country. Learning a language detached from life in this way is somewhat meaningless.

There you go. I think some people might recognize their own mistakes in this list and can correct them in time.

One of my students’ homework assignments is to start keeping diaries in Chinese/English after Lesson 5 🥰
This is the best practice for integrating the language into our lives. Many students even call their diaries a “secret diary” because their family members won’t be able to understand what’s written there even if they accidentally find it. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to get to know yourself better and start expressing your thoughts and emotions 💭.
