Three days of hard work, and so much done for the animals of Zanzibar! 🐾💗

7 female cats spayed, 9 tomcats neutered, 2 female dogs spayed, 6 dogs vaccinated against rabies and canine distemper and dewormed, plus 2 dogs washed and treated against ticks and fleas.

Every procedure helps prevent suffering, improve animal health and give these animals a better chance at life. Thank you to everyone who supports our work and makes days like these possible. Together, we can make a difference! 🐶🐱💗

This is hard to watch. But it’s a reality we need to talk about 💔 This mother cat and her kittens were put into a sack and were about to be thrown into the water to die.
Thankfully, they were rescued in time. They are now safe with us at the shelter, receiving the care they need. The kittens will stay with us for now, and their mama will be spayed ❤️‍🩹 Situations like this remind us that animal welfare in Zanzibar is not only about rescuing and treating animals. Education is just as important.

Many people here have grown up with a very different relationship with cats and dogs. They are not always seen as family members, and there is still a lack of awareness around animal welfare, spaying and neutering, and responsible treatment of animals.

This does not excuse cruelty. But if we truly want to create long-term change, we need to do more than rescue animals. We need to educate, raise awareness and change the way animals are seen and treated.

That’s why our work matters so much. Together with our local vets and team, we want to save individual lives while creating a better future for animals in Zanzibar. 🐾❤️

This mama and her babies made it. Now we’ll make sure they are safe. 🤍

I believe that real success can only be built on collaboration. I will connect with everyone, I always have~ even when we have different perspectives, ideas, backgrounds ~ because I believe that's actually strength, especially when its for a cause that affects everyone!

I am so grateful to meet really cool people every day who are actively helping and I think it is just brilliant that we are all finding and connecting with one another.

THIS IS COMMUNITY and we are growing!

More voices, more hands, more skills, more experience.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of catching up with @malaika_animal_rescue_zanzibar & @mibuenapata who have wonderful new projects in Zanzibar.

We’re doing things differently together, in a way I haven't yet seen done.

More mindful & intentional with a purpose built space to offer spay, neutering and vaccinations to Zanzibars 'pwani' animals

Collaboration with the right people is the way forward.

I absolutely love @mibuenapata , she's brilliant and she's getting things done, no complaints, no excuses just dedication to help make changes.

We have a new team on the east coast.
We are all very different and that's what makes us stronger!

My friend Sara’s project, @mibuenapata needs animal lovers who don’t mind supporting the project for just €1 a month by subscribing to her Teaming group ☺️.
Help Sara help animals around the world (but especially those in Zanzibar right now).

It’s a project without borders; we help all animals in need. In September, we’re returning to Zanzibar for a very long time, and we need subscriptions to be able to help the street animals of Zanzibar month after month. Few people see them, and few give them a second chance.

Every paw we help is a heart we change 🩵✨
