POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Fashion Week feels like the perfect time to reflect on this conversation.

When we talk about fashion and lifestyle creators, it’s easy to focus on the obvious: the clothes, the aesthetics, the perfectly curated feeds. But sitting down with Jaz Turner, Blake Gifford, and Atiya Walcott for Black & Viral in Chicago reminded me that there is so much more happening behind the camera.

These women are sharp business minds, innovators, storytellers, and—most importantly—trailblazers. They aren’t simply participating in culture; they’re helping shape it. And their influence extends far beyond what we see on our screens.

That’s what made this conversation so powerful: creating space to talk about virality, influence, and what it means to build something that lasts—through the lens of women who are doing exactly that.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to moderate this conversation and to the @naacp and @thewebbyawards for creating Black & Viral as a platform to celebrate Black creators and explore the power of their influence. Conversations like these matter because representation isn’t just about who gets a seat at the table—it’s about making sure we’re actually listening when they speak.

And yes, the outfits were 🔥. But the women wearing them? Even more so.

Someone’s gotta do it for the girls in Cincinnati 🤭🤍

I’m very intentional about the experiences I create, and I’m so grateful for every girl who showed up and made this day what it was 🫶🏽

There were sooo many little details that went into bringing this brunch experience together, so I think I’m gonna make this a little BTS series

Consider this part one ✨

This time a month ago we were running around Chicago for the #NAACPconvention. We staffed it…branded it…promoted it…covered it…live-streamed it…collaborated on it…taught sessions…ran press conferences…designed creators’ spaces and what felt like a million signs, handouts, and billboards… facilitated panels…communicated through the web, email, social, a mobile app, and traditional ol’ word of mouth.

We’re just about done recovering but my gratitude is endless. NAACP Comms is truly a magical thing.

In the words of Grammy-Award winning @durandbernarr, “Happy Black Pride for the rest of my life” 🖤

Black queer culture has shaped far more of what’s considered “mainstream” than most people realize. Give credit where it’s due 🤝🏾

Five. Years.
There’s a lot I could say, but the only thing that matters is this: Advocacy is a team sport and at @naacp, I’ve got one of the best.

Dating in our 20s is chaotic… 🥴

so I had to ask @kamiecrawford, @relationshit host, for the one piece of advice we actually need 👀
