A kind of boring photo of a man incapable of being boring. He made grocery shopping an adventure. Made up songs about driving over the George Washington Bridge. Made his life big, like his laugh. Happy Father’s Day to a brilliant, boisterous, larger-than-life hero ❤️

After suffering from injuries, Naomi Ferguson could no longer play soccer for MICDS, but she refused to abandon her teammates and the game she loves. Her dedication and commitment to others are why she was named a recipient of the 2020 Carl Fricks Sportsmanship Scholarship. sportsmanship.org/naomiferguson

Lauren joined the Home Sweet Home family this summer as a Volunteer via the @americorps VISTA program with @servethelou. She and her mother attend @kirkwoodumc and have been volunteering for more than two years. Lauren wanted to be a VISTA last year, but unfortunately missed the birthday cut off. She attended @micds_official and is heading to @furmanuniversity in South Carolina this Monday! She has a talent for sorting linens and picking out JUST the right items for our families. We are sad to see her go but she has promised to come back for volunteering and fun visits. Good luck at school, Lauren. We know you are going to rock it!

Recently had a great interview with @micds_official’s cornerback @trevon.bobo. When I asked him about what he wants colleges to know about him he said, “my size isn’t bad. A lot of times when people see a 145lbs cornerback they probably wonder is this kid really scared to play or scared of contact. I’d say I’m not, I like actually coming up and trying to be physical in the games. Even when I’m guarding larger receivers, I’m still able to stay physical with them.” Check out full interview with link in bio. #micds #highschoolfootball

Case 1: Before the pandemic, Ms. M was able to work, pay her bills, support her family and even volunteer in her children’s schools. Now, this mother of five is out of work, behind on her bills and facing eviction.

On top of the financial stress, Ms. M, 37, is working hard to assist her daughter and four sons, including one child with a disability, through the difficulties of learning remotely.

The family could use help with utilities, gift certificates and household and personal items.

Your support means more than a gift certificate to Ms. M and her five children. It means hope. 🌟

Case 2: Mr. M loves being a father, but he wasn’t expecting to do it on his own. His children, ages 4, 5 and 7, can’t see their mother now because of her drug addiction.

Mr. M struggles to manage his own diabetes, keep up with the house and assist his children with online learning.

Mr. M would appreciate help with home and car repairs, beds for the kids, furniture, appliances and clothing.

Your support means more than beds for Mr. M’s kids. It’s hope. 🌟

Case 5: When the pandemic hit in March, D lost his part-time job.

The 23-year-old has autism and had been living with his mother. But she suffered a series of strokes and had to move to a rehabilitation facility, leaving D homeless.

D could use a deposit to help him find permanent housing, as well as furniture, clothes and vouchers for food.

Your support means more than a warm meal for D. It’s hope.

Case 6: Earlier this year, Ms. K and her three boys were evicted. Their furniture was destroyed after a bed bug infestation. Now, they live with a friend, but it doesn't feel like home.

Money has been unsteady after Ms. K's work shut down for several weeks due to the pandemic. Now, her hours, and paychecks, vary as she juggles work and virtual school for her two oldest sons, 11 and 12.

In addition to keeping up with monthly bills, she could use help with Christmas presents for her children, and replacing furniture and household items as the family searches for a place of their own.

Your support means more than Christmas presents for Ms. K’s children. It means a step closer to a place of their own. 🌟

Case 7: When his niece became homeless, Mr. K, 66, couldn't let her live on the street.

The Marine Corps veteran has little left after paying monthly bills. He struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and breathing problems. His 36-year-old niece served in the U.S. Air Force. She, too, suffers from PTSD, as well as lupus.

Until she gets back on her feet, Mr. K will make sure she has a home. He could use help buying food and household items, such as a cot for his niece and sheets and blankets. With a little help he might be able to afford gifts for his grandchildren.

Your support means more than a bed for Mr. K’s niece. It means hope. 🌟
