This morning, we gathered at the Historic Dade County Courthouse—possibly for the last time before our office moves—to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to this great nation.

As I shared in my remarks, Memorial Day is more than a holiday—it’s a solemn reminder of the cost of our freedoms. Freedoms we must never take for granted. We came together not just to mourn the fallen, but to celebrate their legacy—a legacy that binds us together as a community and as a country.

Here, in the heart of Miami-Dade’s justice system, we are reminded daily of the rights and liberties they gave their lives to defend. To the families of the fallen: we carry your loved ones in our hearts, and we honor them by striving to serve our community with the same dedication they showed to our country.

To our veterans and service members across the Clerk’s Office and the 11th Judicial Circuit—thank you.

May we never lose sight of what Memorial Day means. And may we always strive to be worthy of their sacrifice.
