@mutant_diva is a Mexican multimedia artist and maker exploring the physical and visual artefacts emerging from the depths of her mind. Her practice navigates migration, identity and the politics of belonging, while questioning our relationship with the Earth. Through creative experimentation and the transformation of waste materials, she believes in art as a tool for resistance, mutation and imagining other ways of existing.

Whenever I tell I live almost (and today exactly) 9 years in Porto, people’s first reaction is a sound “wow!” and followed by an understandable “why?!”. And honestly I can’t answer to that!… So here is some not curated moments to grasp and wonder why I still love this beautiful ‘favourite tourist trap’ of a city I also call home.

We are happy to share that we have spaces open for our Studio Mentorship program!

If you’re interested in learning woodworking using waste materials and natural stains and finishes, or metalworking and sand-casting jewelry and objects from waste, on a one-on-one basis, we’d love to have you in the studio.

These sessions can be deep dives into the process itself from start to finish, or can be learning through creating an object or piece you already have in mind.

Last night was such a joy of coming together and pushing the limits of what we can do and enjoy from what is left behind. THANK YOU to all who came and shared in this joint experiment of delicious food and amazing company.

A special thank you to the truly one of a kind @wonder_cookie and @venncanteen. @iganawara the night would not have been the same without you and your presence and assistance.

The slight oddities of the women were never quite understood, rather, interpreted as eccentric or vaguely aggressive after a few sips, though one might say - lifting a 10kg marble elephant above ones head is quite absurd and of course, by today's standards - absolutely unhinged. It was in the way that only they could be or knew how to be.

Presenting our brands:
@estudiomortovivo is an art and design studio in Bonfim that educates on sustainable creation from waste materials. It is home to artists Lu Antram @materiialgurl and Michael Douglas Too @michael_douglas_too , who both teach and create in the studio, making jewelry from upcycled aluminium and furniture and objects from salvaged wood under a zero-petroleum process.

On Saturday 28 March we bring back our beloved Wasted cocktail event to close out our APPARATUS exhibition.

With Wasted we take what normally gets thrown out in our personal kitchen and put it center stage in each of these carefully crafted cocktail & mocktail recipes. Come and try our new seasonal offerings featuring syrups, bitters, shrubs & garnishes made from leftover peels, stems and more.

This will also be the last opportunity to see the 12 unique hook creations on display as part of our APPARATUS exhibition. Each hook is made from a minimum of 80% found, repurposed or waste materials with the only requirement that they fulfill the simple utilitarian purpose of functioning as a hook to hang something from.

Created from reclaimed wooden crates and pencils, this piece explores transformation — giving new life to materials once discarded.
Inspired by Japanese principles of Wabi-Sabi, Kanso, and Shizen, it embraces simplicity, imperfection, and natural form — with a touch of playfulness.
