I’m grateful that the DISCONNECT film festival journey ended on such a high note – with a “special Mention”. This film meant a lot to me — it reflected upon a personal life experience and turned a dark chapter into something positive. Still, I feel ready to leave this film behind now and move forward.

I’d love to share the film’s “Special Mention” eulogy with you in this caption below. 🙏🏼

Special Mention to DISCONNECT by Teymour Tehrani

„For its ability to translate, through a visionary and deeply symbolic language, the inner conflict of a young man into a cinematic experience suspended between who you are and who you wish to be. DISCONNECT stands out for its aesthetic sensitivity and the evocative use of imagery, guiding the viewer through a journey of loss and rediscovery of the true self, thanks to the masterful direction of Teymour Tehrani“.
- the Jury, Fabriano Film Festival 2025

Thank you @fabrianofilmfest and everybody involved who made this beautiful cultural event possible, as well as @marchefilmcommission Thanks to the fellow international filmmakers who I enjoyed to meet. But the biggest thanks I dedicate to the people who made DISCONNECT possible and believed in me 🫶🏻

A long time my short film DISCONNECT was an international film festival favourite — winning 6 awards, 4 honorable mentions and screened in 15 countries.

This film was deeply personal, and in a post-Covid time, it felt like the right film to acknowledge male mental health.

Fabriano Film Festival in Italy was the last dance for DISCONNECT — and it ended on a high, receiving a “Special Mention” for my artistic direction and poetic approach to the film.

However, with this final chapter, it also means, for me personally, finding closure and letting go of some demons once again. This film turned a dark time into light — and now it’s time to part and move on.

Thank you cast & crew, as well as everyone who supported DISCONNECT. 🫶🏼

SWAY

Some of my favorite little Snippets from this project. We created multiple 2D screen animations and used them as textures in 3D to build an interaction between pen and display.
