A Liturgy for Counselors:
Oh Father, the weight of caring for others feels heavy today.
The stories I hear linger in my mind.
The burdens i carry feel greater than my strength.
The needs around me seem endless.
And so I come to You.
With the Children I do not know how to help, I come to You.
With the conversations I wish had gone differently, I come to You.
With the pressure to have the right words,I come to You.
When i wonder if I am making a difference, I ask
Do You see me!
When i feel inadequate for the work before me, I wonder
Do You see me?
When I carry the hurts of others and feel overwhelmed, I think
Do You see me?
Father, I confess that I often trust in my own wisdom
I look for the perfect answer,
The perfect response, The perfect outcome.
I forget that I was never meant to be a savior.
Only You can heal hearts.
Only You can change lives.
Only You can carry what is
Yet in Your kindness,
You do not leave me to labor alone.
You are present with me in every conversation.
You are working in ways I cannot see.
You care for every child more deeply than I ever could.
Thank You, Father,
that the success of this work does not rest upon me.
Thank You, Father,
that You are patient with my weaknesses.
Thank You, Father,
that Your power is made perfect in weakness.
I lay before You now every child, every conversation, every burden, and every fear.
Take what I cannot carry.
Lead me where I do not know how to go.
Give me wisdom where I lack understanding.
Let me love You, Father,
by faithfully serving the children You have entrusted to me.
