i have avoided making this post for over a week, because once i did, it would mean that my swimming career was truly over. all of the tough practices, the countless swim meets, and the laughter i shared with my teammates, would really be no more. it’s such a strange and surreal feeling, that the sport that i had put my everything into, will no longer be my whole world. i have spent the past ten years of my life, pouring my heart and soul into this team. from my very first swim practice, i knew that this was where i belonged. but now, the time has come where i have to move on with my life. i have to grow and change and discover my identity that is separate from swimming. while i will miss the memories and laughs that i have accumulated with this team since i was 7 years old, i know that closing this chapter of my life is how i am meant to start writing my own story. i honestly cannot believe that this is real, that i will not get to see my second family and create memories with them every day anymore. but, the love and support i have received from my friends and coaches makes all of the hard work worth it. these people have shaped me into the woman i am today, and i am eternally grateful for each and every one of them. thank you @swim.fst for giving me friendships, memories, and a home that i will cherish forever.
