I took a deep dive into @lionsgatehorror “The Blair Witch Project: Definitive Collector’s Edition,” & 27 years later, this movie still makes a hotel reservation look like the smartest decision I could make. the blair witch project collector’s edition. From the restored film presentations and extensive special features to the collectible poster and booklet, there’s plenty for physical media fans to explore. Revisiting “Curse of the Blair Witch” also brought me right back to Blockbuster Video, where that mockumentary had me wondering if the nightmare was real. My full review explores the release, its extras, and why it deserves a spot on your horror shelf this holiday season. Did “The Blair Witch Project” scare you away from camping, or are you still willing to brave the woods? Let me know in the comments below. #TheBlairWitchProject #HorrorMovies #PhysicalMedia #HorrorCommunity #BlurayCollection

AGAINST EVERYONE WITH CONNER HABIB 329: HORROR UPON HORROR PT 3 - SARA GRAN & PAUL TREMBLAY on THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and URBAN LEGENDS I’m sure you know the THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999) by now but if not, here’s the plot: three students enter the woods to make a doc about a local legend. They’re never seen again. A recording of their footage is found later. That’s it. You probably also know it wasn’t like other movies when it came out. It was marketed in the most convincing ways: missing posters were put out of the three actors that appear in the film (Rei Hance, known in the film as Heather, Donaghue; Michael, C, Williams; Joshua Leonard); their IMDB pages listed them as deceased; there was chatter on the then-burgeoning internet about what happened to them and more. On top of that. it wasn’t filmed like other movies. The cast themselves were directors of the film, along with the overall directors of the film along with Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, since they recorded the bulk of the movie. The directors did not know what the cast had filmed because they sent them out on missions to film and turn the results to them later. Whether they were stimulating rumors at diners before talking to an actor stationed there as a plant, or acting under duress in the woods in the rain and cold and darkness... So the found footage was actually found footage. And the characters investigating folklore were actors stimulating real rumors. All of this brought out tremendous performances from the three cast members. I went to see The Blair Witch Project in the theater when it came out. We all thought it was real. When it was done — and I’d never had this experience before nor have had it since — the entire audience sat in silence until the credits finished rolling. What a new dimension of horror to be brought into the world! So I was so thrilled that my friends, horror authors Sara Gran (Come Closer, The Book of the Most Precious Substance) and Paul Tremblay (Head Full of Ghosts, Horror Movie) wanted to talk about it. Hey, look! I found those missing kids from the Blair Witch Project 😏 Feeling SO grateful to attend a screening and Q&A last weekend with Josh, Heather and Mike. The 100 year old Elsinore Theatre was truly gorgeous, just look at that stained glass! 🤩 BWP has been on my top 10 list since seeing it opening day in 1999. And today, I got the special edition Blu-ray that was just released, too. Cannot wait to do a deep dive into the special features! #blairwitch #horror #salem #blairwitchproject #foundfootage
