Grit- courage and resolve; strength of character.
February is heart ❤️ month!! Our journey in the heart started 10 years ago. A child who was nonresponsive in the back seat. It was a moment when fight or flight set in! It was the CPR on my child in front of that CVS that will haunt my memory!
It was the loss of memories that 💔 will never be returned! It was the innocence slowly slipping away!!
It was the scars 💔 on his chest that forever erased any idea of a simple life and a healthy child!! 10 years later the heart still struggles to function or understand the trauma imposed by no choice of our own. It is through the interruption in life's plans that we learn grit!!
To grasp what has been is truly impossible to convey into words.
It's acknowledging the profound gratitude 🙏 I have as the life flight ✈️ 🙏 lands on top of the hospital, knowing the devastation someone else faces. And knowing we survived that! It's the fear of the results of this test. It is these moments of grit where you become humbly aware of where you could be.
We may have to wake up at 3 am over 8hrs round trip with a freeway closed, knowing it could be worse. Being thankful for the hard we have. And it's humbling grace and gratitude that we have the opportunity for another year of camp! Hope to see you all next Wednesday!!

Some Days of getting on the road at 4am. Driving 4 hrs each way today. Getting poked 4 times and no Labs. The peak of our day is seeing Jackson's brother's. Going to football has been a good bribe for blood work. We love our @uclafootball boys. Jackson talked about how he is gonna find @michaelchurich89 a job lmao 🤣 thanks for the memories. @goteamimpact

We ended this football season with a BANG!! There are so many people I want to thank, and I can't tag them all.
The 🏆 win against Fresno was a good close to a truly memorable season. One with many first both for the team and for Jackson and I. It was a season of learning and loving ❤️.
The world simply isn't fair. Many will view someone's struggle as an inconvenience. The humanity has been lost in so many ways.
This season restored my faith in humanity.
The arduous schedule this team has put on between travel, practice, and full-time school is something else👌
But the biggest highlight is what was done off the field. A few boys signed up for @goteamimpact.
But the whole team, staff, coaches, and students, made a meaningful and true effort to love and support Jackson.
Many times I would turn around and see everyone laughing at something Jackson said or did. They would take personal time to chat and teach Jackson different skills. Pep talked 👄 him through the tough days in the hospital. Messaging me privately to ask how he was doing and what they could do to help, or just to send encouragement. They would show up on personal time to events or just to hang out with him. Making meaningful ✨️ memories for this sweet boy of mine.
And there are truly no words for the love I have for all these young men. I feel like they are my own!! In one season he gained 116 brothers. I see the pride in Jackson's eyes when he talks about them.
I don't think they will ever know the deep gratitude I have for every person ❤️
We are given one life!! There is no do-over. Jackson has taught me the joy of human connection. He may have short-term memory issues. He may ask the same question a million times. But he is truly interested every time he asks. With every injury or player who was out for the season. He wanted to support them. He grieved the losses just like the players. His ability to talk to anyone and capture their soul is the most remarkable thing to watch. I wish I had that ability. He got to know everyone. From the concession stand people, security, police, fire departments, Rose Bowl staff, recruits, donors the list is endless. From the bottom of my heart thankyou
