The Junky SG weekender is officially done. It’s probs too early to do a proper debrief but the gigs were definitely a success in the end I think, against the odds! (honestly, ask people who came, at times I’d even say the venues bordered on ‘busy’- comment below and back me up if you were there). At least one person at each show approached me with a cheeky glint in their eye and told me how much they enjoyed the ‘online content’ I’d been producing to promote the tour. And those people know exactly who they are and know exactly what they are encouraging when they tell me stuff like that, so I hope they’re very happy with themselves. Now for some important thanks I’d like to give out. Thank you so much to everyone who bought tickets and/or merch, we hope you enjoyed it and that you will tell your friends about nathy sg. Thanks so much to @junkwhaletheband for doing the gigs with us and being lush kind people and a fucking great band. Thanks to @machomusicisstupid / @deliciousclamstagram, @divineschism and @jtsoar for booking the gigs and being brilliant promoters / protectors of diy culture. Thanks to @pinkopaqueband, @gayskeletonclub and @pillowfortuk for opening the gigs and all being really good and dead canny. Thanks to @madforsadness, Daisy, @photosonny, @_powerful_man, Jake and Harriet for hosting / looking after us. and, excluding whoever I’ve forgotten, last but not least thank you to my beautiful and talented bandmates @lauraak, @michaelcraiig, @charliejamison and @jaycavalierandtheband for doing this ill-advised middle-aged solo project with me. I love you all. That’s about the limit of my ability to form coherent sentiments for today, keep an eye on the nathy sg insta for more ‘content’ soon. I’m donating any money I made selling 7” records on this tour to @pal_action (i think about £90 but will do the sums asap), and junk whale were raising money/awareness for @transkidsdeservebetter - please support those causes if you can. The world is absolutely fucking horrible but music is cool and so is direct action 🇵🇸🏳️‍⚧️ PS: our next gig is @camindiepop in November.

I love hanging out and playing music and not practising and sitting in the back of a car and fannying around and “waking up feeling like an old bitch” with these people. 🖤✨

That’s it for the the nathy sg band for 2025. If you’ve seen us this year or bought something or worn a nathy sg badge or shirt or whatever then thanks a million. If you streamed our songs that’s fine but I’m not thanking you (the shareholders of whatever private equity/ai arms manufacturer firm your subscription supports should do that but they won’t they have utter contempt for us all). Streaming is fake and totally made up. I might release some new music next year but given the state of things please don’t hold me to it. Irrespective if you like what we do, we are playing @mcrpunkfest next year with lots of absolute bands. Grab a ticket from the link in my bio. There’s not even that many left!

I played in my most fragile state ever yesterday but it was still totally fine. It just goes to show, nothing matters. You don’t need to practice. You don’t need to sleep. You don’t need a voice. Or any sanity left. You can play the Big Show’s entrance music as your walk on music and then ask for it to be played again between every song, the pub landlord is not going to stop you. In fact, he’ll encourage it. You can start the set before you’ve even turned your amp on. You can play everything just a tiny bit wrong. You can throw hard sweets into/at the crowd. People will still mostly clap if you mean it enough. Thanks to @mean_eyed_cat_ncl and @dimwizzy for giving us an opportunity to present our performance and thanks to @jimy_cleveland / @naomirat for backline/door duties. Comment below if you even dare.
