A big part of my life and what has made me, me…was all the years I spent competing as a CrossFit athlete. I’ve never really shared much about this part of my life because I hold it very close to my heart. Sometimes it’s hard to share because the layers go so deep. Showing this small piece of the puzzle with you all feels very special and filming it in my home gym, in my home town, feels full circle. Here is to the next chapter of my life🦈🤍 #bts #gymshark #athlete #fitness #vlog

Over the last year, I’ve spent many hours hiking Table Mountain with my godmother, @tania_morkel. Those hikes have been special for many reasons. We’ve shared a unique relationship for most of my life, but being on the mountain together has taken on a completely new meaning. In 2023, Tania tragically fell 18m into a ravine on Table Mountain. Against all odds, she survived. After time in ICU and rehabilitation, she made an extraordinary recovery. Returning to the mountain that nearly took her life wasn’t something she had to do, it was something she chose to do. As we walked, we’d spend hours talking about what it felt like to be back. About fear, gratitude, perspective, and what it means to be given another chance. I quickly realised that everyone who heard her story walked away inspired, and I found myself feeling exactly the same after every hike. In 2025, at the age of 64, she climbed Table Mountain 64 times in 64 days to raise money for the organisations that saved her life. This year, she’s gone even further, completing the 13 Peaks Challenge 13 times in 13 weeks. It’s an achievement that’s almost impossible to comprehend until you witness it firsthand. Somewhere along those hikes, I realised this wasn’t just an incredible story- it was one that deserved to be shared. Although I’ve directed fashion films before, this is the first time I’ve had the privilege of telling such a deeply human story. Over the past few months, alongside cinematographer @michaelokennedy, we’ve been documenting Tania’s latest challenge. The process has taught me that filmmaking isn’t just about capturing moments. It’s about creating space for people to connect with someone else’s experience. We’re now in the editing process and plan to release the film later this year. Working on this documentary has changed me in ways I didn’t expect. It’s reminded me why stories matter, why resilience is contagious, and why some journeys deserve to be preserved long after the final steps are taken. I can’t wait to share more Tania’s story with you. #TaniaMorkel #FallingUpwards

Logistics went straight out the window on day one one 😜… One meter of soft sand feels like ten on the road 🥵 Lugging a rig up and down Dunes definitely aint for the faint hearted 😂 Crew: DOP: @jeanpaul.malherbe AC: @michaelokennedy 📸: @jacquesweyersdiary , @cape_flats_today 💪: @bosmansiguy , @gregmillerinsta 🚁: @adam_smaruj 💃🏻: @vanesgsell North South Productions #namibia #onsetediting #behindthescenes #filmmaking #setlife
