Turns out the secret to winning might be to stop worrying about winning. 👀

After returning to the runway after a five-year hiatus, designer Michael Peter Reid (@michaelpeterreid) finally took home the top prize at the SA Fashion Week (@safashionweek) New Talent Search yesterday evening. And this time, he approached things a little differently.

Instead of focusing on the outcome, he threw himself into the creative process, pushing every design a little further, embracing happy accidents and turning decades-old deadstock and damaged fabrics into something new.

We caught up with him just after his win to talk about trusting his instincts, taking creative risks and why this collection felt so personal. ✨
