HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH? / T’EN VEUX ENCORE ?
co-hosted with @the.iceprincess

One person pays for convenience. Someone else pays the price.

We were promised that more would free us. Under capitalism, who gets more comfort, time, and possibility? Who absorbs the work, debt, heat, and exhaustion?

Desire can also contain the demand for something to end. Enough austerity. Enough unaffordable housing. Enough violence. When does the obligation to adapt become impossible to endure? And what happens when the people say enough?

As different forms of refusal emerge worldwide, could we be witnessing an empire whose promises lose credibility before its institutions lose power?

Le MEETUP 13 brings these questions into the room. Join us at @staygenerator for an evening of cultural objects, conversation, and exchange around desire, excess, and the limits we draw.

To open our third season, we sat down with the numbers.

For Le MEETUP 12, we asked what a budget can tell us about culture, and what remains harder to see. Through a close reading of the PLF 2026, we learned to read the language of public funding together, tracing the priorities, reductions, jobs and categories through which the State makes culture legible.

From there, the Déclaration de Villeurbanne and La Clef complicated the picture. Who defines culture and its public? What happens when access does not redistribute power? When resources disappear, where does the pressure land, and who is expected to absorb it?

For Le MEETUP 12 (CAN WE AFFORD IT?), we considered:
- PLF 2026
- Déclaration de Villeurbanne, 1968
- La Clef, Paris

Thank you to @iciconversation for hosting us, to @carla.lafourniere for co-hosting, and to everyone who joined us to kick off the season.

To close out our second season, we gathered on the eve of a canceled Pride to ask some difficult questions: What happens when queer spaces close? And what are the material conditions that make these spaces possible in the first place, or eventually make them impossible to sustain?

For Le MEETUP 11 (ARE YOU PROUD?), we looked at queer gathering through two very different cultural objects, tracing the relationship between space, desire, community, precarity, and belonging.

Objects considered:
- Wildness by Wu Tsang (2012)
- "Is the Rectum a Grave?" by Leo Bersani (1987)

Thank you, as always, to @lacaserneparis for hosting us, to @aziz.psd for snapping pics, and to everyone who joined us to close out a beautiful second season of rethinking the way we gather.

We are legible bodies, constantly misread. Le MEETUP 10 (CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?) sat with what happens when language speaks us before we speak it, shaping what we can think, what we can feel, what we can say. Together, we excavated the edits we make to be understood, and what we bury in the process.

Objects considered:
- What our language habits reveal by Steven Pinker
- What is code switching by Benjamin Abiola

Thank you to everyone for braving the heat and to @iciconversation for hosting us.
