«Band’s idea is to use samples, sounds, and grooves that would give the impression of delicate LoFi music and heavy-sounding progressive rock, exploration of what lies in between, and different approaches to mixing such distant genres» The Mthembu-Salter Powell project hele veien fra Sørafrika✨ The Mthembu-Salter Powell project, co-led by Khaya Mthembu-Salter and Adam Powell, was born from a shared passion for the music of artists like Wayne Shorter and John Coltrane. We draw inspiration from modern jazz while also feeling a profound connection to South African composers like Bheki Mseleku, Kyle Shepard and Bokani Dyer and a wide variety of other artists such as Fela Kuti and Lionel Loueke. We do this in the spirit of embracing traditional and modern innovations.
