spring wedding / tented wedding

All the hot and busy days of summer make me reminisce about this lovely spring wedding captured by @micheleyeephoto … the flowers we use lately have been electric (which I absolutely love) but there’s something calming about the delicate nature of pastel blooms in May.

There are so many ways to design florals for the Terrace Room @therivercafe and we’ve done both the bold and the quiet approach to color. I am particularly drawn to the way this wedding brought in subtle hints of yellow and amber that connect our florals back to the woven dining chairs. This is definitely a moment where time and place felt perfectly reflected in the designs we chose to create.

I saw a passing post about the word “timeless” and how often it’s used in the industry to describe wedding aesthetics. It made a point that there isn’t really a point to making something timeless, because how can we actually transcend time? I’d agree, and suggest that it’s more important to define what feels “unforgettable” to you within the venue you chose, and charge forward with only that design goal in mind. Pursue an aesthetic that feels just as much a part of your personality as it does the place that the wedding is designed within (working with seasonal florals definitely helps 😉)

Said I would post summer flowers but then this gallery came through…to say I have an addiction to this bouquet is an understatement.

Fried egg peony season is long gone at this point and I have no substitute suggestions, nothing compares to their beauty and sensitive attitude ✨ so if you want them, get married in May ….. and make sure @micheleyeephoto is there to capture it from every angle because damn, just so good 🤌💋

The setting is also such a vibe @therivercafe 🤍

Some couples just leave a lasting impression.

Working with these two was such a joy from start to finish. Kind, genuine, and so sweet. Such an honor to be part of their beautiful day. Already missing working with them and so grateful our paths crossed.

A Summer Wedding to Remember☀️

Alice & Frank said I DO overlooking the water with a gorgeous ceremony on our Ocean Terrace. From there, guests enjoyed a bountiful and golden cocktail hour reception on our Sun Deck, followed by a lively reception in our Harbor Room.

Thankful to play even a tiny role in the moments that become people’s favorite stories. This cozy celebration at The Elliott Room was such a treat! Jack & Helena gathered their closest people for an intimate ceremony and the sweetest little reception. Sometimes the biggest days come in small packages.

Flipping through the pages to find my interview in Pattern Magazine by @bonniechristine It was such an honor to be featured and to see my work, words, and pressed flowers in the pages of this beautiful magazine. With everything feeling overly digital and lacking of a human touch, seeing my work in a physical magazine made me so unbelievably happy. Find this magazine at @barnesandnoble! 🌷🦢✨ big thanks to @micheleyeephoto for the prettiest studio shots 🤍
