Just head 1 hour away from the famous Arenal Volcano (still a bit alive today). Traverse through pasture lands of the tropical forest (sorry, no T-rex available for selfies with, and you join the indigenous Maleku. Where the picnics and lunches will be with in the sacred energy, where sages relay stories of the ancient ones.

Count to 3 in your head before reacting.
Even if they keep speaking.
Perhaps start with "Interesting point of view"

Sometimes self-care doesn’t look like a spa day.

Sometimes it looks like closing your eyes for five minutes before the chaos begins.

A little while ago I attended a beautiful meditation journey hosted by Michelle McEwan, and it reminded me of something I think so many busy mums need to hear…

You don’t have to be someone who meditates every morning for 30 minutes.

You don’t need a silent house (because let’s be honest… does that even exist? 😂).

You don’t need to “clear your mind” perfectly.

You just need to start.

As someone who’s battled chronic anxiety and continues to navigate depression, I’ve learnt that the biggest changes rarely come from one huge action. They come from the tiny habits that you repeat over and over again.

Five minutes.

Close your eyes.

Breathe.

Put on some calming music.

Or, if your brain is anything like mine and never seems to switch off, try a guided meditation. I personally love using the Brainwaves app because it has sessions to help you relax, sleep, reset or simply take a quick mental break.

The funny thing about these small habits is they don’t always feel life-changing in the moment.

Just like strength training.

Just like improving your nutrition.

Just like learning to prioritise protein.

One workout won’t change your body.

One healthy meal won’t change your health.

One five-minute meditation probably won’t change your mindset.

But repeat those small actions for three… six… twelve months?

You become someone different.

If you’ve already built some healthy habits around your training and nutrition, maybe this is your reminder that your mind deserves the same attention as your body.

Give yourself permission to pause.

Five or ten minutes.

No guilt.

No expectations.

Just breathe.

Your future self will thank you for it. 🤍

👏 THE POWER OF PILGRIMAGE

That one statement.

🔥 PAYING ATTENTION IS A SACRED ACT.

A statement that resonated so deeply with me.

And in that simple statement is the key to the power of pilgrimage - whether we approach every day as a pilgrimage, or we take a specific trip to a land that can hold us in a “time out of time”

The simplicity, beauty and depth of both the words and presence of @michelle_macewan will always stay with me.

She points us back to ourselves.

Sharing our conversation on @behindoureyes333 has been a joy and an honour.

We can bring the sacred into our every day lives.

It’s always there.

If we’re present.

With our attention.

And then we see the beauty in what’s around us, and within us.
