Dani and I have been told since our start that our love was something special. We’ve been flattered by the letters received, notes shared, and a song written by a close friend that was inspired by the vows we spoke. It may be contrarian, but I wouldn’t say that our love is different; I think it’s notably familiar. It has the gentle ease of the love we are often surrounded by. The same warmth of a hug shared by close friends, the safety of a reassuring hand hold. It shares the same intimacy of a light gaze shared between lovers, and the radiant joy of a well timed joke told at a kitchen table. We are only a reflection of the love we’ve been lucky enough to observe and experience - the same love seen in the excitement of budding friendships. Love seen in the strength of an old friendship, long since rooted in memories and fruitful with inevitable change. We share the same love of the partners, wives, and husbands we’ve built community with and who have their own romances to share. We share the love given by family, a love that is foundational but has allowed transformation, remodeled in patience, forgiveness, and honestly. With all that said, I wouldn’t say our love is different. I would say our love is you, and I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you.
